“Good base for the cricket”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights to catch the test match at Headingley on a B&B basis, it was booked by a friend of mine who had stayed here before,so I knew roughly what to expect.
The Hotel is a little tired looking both inside and out, but clean and with a bit of character, there is free parking to the front and it is situated at the start of the village of Headingley, with the stadium about a 20 min walk away, and about 6 pubs and numerous eateries along the way.
Breakfast was fine, although my mate's wife thought her bacon tasted of fish!!,and the rooms were large and had everything you needed.
Slept very well both nights, but several beers had been partaken of prior to going to bed!!
It's not the Ritz, but it's not a souless Travelodge either, and if I was going to Headingley again would be more than happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Arcadia bar in the Arndale centre is a Mecca for real ale fans

Nice pleasant hotel. Slightly old fashioned with a quiet feel. I had a very nice quiet room. The couple who manage the hotel are extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms are clean and I was lucky to have a spacious one.

Five stars to the Ascot Grange for giving me their best room and looking after me so well for two months while on business in Leeds. It does not look much from the outside but rooms are quite comfortable if a bit dated and Kristian and Lillja (hope I have spelt that right!) are a lovely friendly couple who do everything to make you feel at home. The price is a good rate for a major city and it was a convenient location for me north of the city centre but close to the ring road. There is a good breakfast cooked to order and a small selection of home-cooked evening meals. I would certainly use this hotel again in future.

There is a great atmoshere about the Ascot Grange. Immediately you enter the hotel you will appreciate the calm and relaxed feel to the place.
The service is exempliary. The young couple managing the place are wonderful and make you feel at home straight away. The rooms are spotlessly clean, though basic, and offer exceptional value for money. The hotel is located just a couple of miles from the centre of Leeds on a main arterial road affording easy access and with loads of parking. It is exceptionally quiet, allowing a great nights sleep.
The restaurant is well run, the meals are all home cooked and exceptional value for money, they even offer room service at no extra cost, so much better than the twofors offered at the local pubs.
I would happily stay there again on my next visit to Leeds. Finally I have to say that whatever the owners are paying the young couple running the place it is not enough.

I have stayed here four times so far. It does not pretend to be anything it is not - it is a basic hotel, but provides all you need. The staff are friendly and helpful, it is warm (including in the very cold weather this winter) and clean, and there is plenty of on-site parking. Breakfasts are fairly standard but good - however they stop serving at 8.15 during the week. It is conveniently located for Headingley (10 minutes' walk) and much of the student accommodation for the university. A good price for what you get.

My wife and I have just stayed at this hotel for the 2nd time. We made a late booking of the last available room and were pleased to find that it was spacious, clean and warm. The hotel is in a very convenient location for us and provides good accommodation, including parking, a friendly reception and a good breakfast at a reasonable price. We will stay there again.

Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Rooms are basic but have all you need. Breakfast was lovely. Location was excellent for my needs and the large car park was very handy. One comment about the bar though, draught beer is must please. I Would not hesitate to visit again.
