This hotel is shockingly bad, certainly the worst I have ever had the misfortune to stay in.
We arrived late afternoon and checked in quickly as we had friends waiting in the car for us. Initial impressions were not good, compounded by the fact the room had not been made up. We did notice the cheap, tatty furniture, and chipped paint. We dropped our bags and headed out for the evening. Reception promised the room would be made up before our return.
We returned around 1am, having been to a party. The bed had been made but it certainly didn't look like the sheets had been changed (they had a rather unsavoury stain). It was late, we had had a few drinks and were tired so ended up sleeping fully clothed on the bed.
In the morning, we didnt want to linger so got up and left fairly early, I wasn't prepared to risk breakfast.
Before leaving, i had a look around the room. Bathroom - filthy, sticky floor. Carpet - dust and fluff piled up around the edge's, obviously hadn't had a proper clean for years. There were also some black marks on the carpet which looked like they could have been mouse droppings trodden into the carpet. I really didn't want to investigate further.
We complained as we left and have asked for a refund, reception said they were not authorised to do anything about this. We asked them to get the manager to call us. He did ring later and said we should have complained (at 1 o'clock in the morning) and they would have swapped our room. He did not explain how to find a member of staff at this time of night. The manager also said he is unable to authorise a refund and we would need to write to the owner (who apparently lives abroad). I suspect they get so many complaints they have a well used strategy for ignoring them
