“Perfect wedding venue! Second to none! X”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

The woodlands way surpassed our expectations as a venue for getting married. The quality if the venue itself, the immaculate and quirky rooms, the out of this world customer service... It's second to none.

If you're planning a wedding Lauren will be your wedding coordinator and planner and she's a gem, ensuring everything goes smoothly with a few added lovely surprises for you on the day. Your toastmaster Nigel is equally wonderful, super attentive and smiles all day. The whole team create the perfect day, you can just enjoy the luxurious surroundings and focus on having fun with friends and family... Can't rate this place and the people highly enough xx

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for my birthday weekend, we married there last July and fell in love with it. The staff are helpful and attentive and the hotel has a lovely relaxed feel about it. Upon booking we were asked if the stay was for a special occasion so we explained it was for my birthday, we thought the receptionist was just making conversation and thought nothing of it, then when we went into dinner we were told there was a glass of prosecco on the house for us as a birthday treat, very nice we thought, then when desserts arrived my desert came with a single candle and Haply Birthday written on the plate. what a very nice gesture. The hotel was very clean the room luxurious with lovely toiletries our room had a patio and garden area in which to sit and enjoy the tranquility of the day. Can't wait to stay again. We can't recommend this hotel enough! 5*

My sister got married here last Friday and it was a wonderful venue! I can't fault it in any which way! The food and venue were brilliant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The bedrooms are beautiful! We had a deluxe room and I loved the jacuzzi bath!

I would highly recommend it as a wedding venue and the hotel as somewhere to stay, the grounds are lovely so would be a great place for a romantic break.

Recently held our daughter's wedding at Woodlands for 120+ guests.
Why did we choose Woodlands? There are numerous other venues which are cheaper and offer a good package.

Woodlands has the edge on 3 major criteria.

Firstly the venue itself. As you drive through the industrial area of South Leeds towards the Motorway you are thinking what on earth are you doing visiting this place. Then suddenly you come across the Woodlands Sign and via a tree lined drive you enter an oasis in the desert. The building itself is well maintained (inside & out) and around the side in a stunning area for a reception with outside tables, a large patio and a lovely green garden and views to the woods. We were fortunate - the forecasted rain held off, the sun appeared and the drinks and canopes were served in the grounds as the string quartet played background music - perfect! Inside - the bars, lounges and ceremony room are also of a high standard.

Secondly the quality of the food. I have been to many functions and had the usual fare but the food at Woodlands is simply - a step above. Even for catering on a large scale it was delicious.

Thirdly - Woodlands has a wedding marquee. It might not be your thing or you might prefer a normal room inside a building. However, the purpose built permanent marquee is where to have the wedding breakfast/meal. With great lighting and all the facilities it makes a great and memorable location to eat and then party afterwards.
The venue has its own DJ and has recently been granted an outdoor music licence so bands can play at functions (a marquee is classed as an outside venue)

Our wedding co-coordinator Lauren and Manager Nigel were superb throughout the whole process and also on the day. They are professional, flexible and aim to please. All the staff on the day were fantastic - polite, helpful and not too intrusive.
We received many comments from our guests praising the venue, food and staff - enough said.
Woodlands have approx 20 rooms to stay overnight. I believe about half are really excellent whilst the others are on the small side.

In general I have no hesitation in recommended Woodlands as a Wedding Venue. Feedback from our guests were extremely positive. If you do choose Woodlands - I think you will not be disappointed

A well marked hotel from the road. Plenty of parking and the limited grounds are well maintained and lovely to walk around.
The welcome was genuine. The lift had out of action for a while and despite attempted repairs. An offer of help with my 3 cases would have been a nice touch; not every guest is able to carry cases easily up a narrow staircase.
My room was beautiful. Large, bright, airy. 2 deep armchairs were lovely. Bed soft and fresh. The bath had powerful air jets should you require a massage.
There is no gym or pool; simply bedrooms, bar and restaurant.
The room service was attentive and even noticed I was left handed and left the kettle in a good position for me.
The negatives are more a lack of attention to detail for a Superior Room. A tiny TV for the size of room. Cheapish toilet paper and a plastic toilet seat.
My breakfast was satisfactory and the server helpful. Linen tablecloths. But I had to ask for marmalade. And back bacon was not available; only streaky. Shame. To be honest, the variety of breakfast is better at a Premier Inn but with less impressive surroundings.
+ Venue. Staff. Parking. Room. Bath. Bed.
- Breakfast. Cheap essentials. No pool/gym

Room Tip: Avoid rooms by the office

We stayed for 1 night as we were attending a Birthday Party nearby. The Hotel is beautiful, the welcome was warm & friendly, the Staff were attentive and the breakfast was delicious! They were holding a Wedding the next morning after our stay and the Marquee was decorated & presented beautifully. Our room (Rm 21), was a tad on the small side, however it was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again & would definitely consider it for a Wedding Venue if we weren't already married.

We stayed the 15th June overnight for our friends wedding that we attended. Our stay was comfortable, the food both for the wedding breakfast & evening reception was really enjoyable & the staff were really helpful & polite. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds & is a short distance away from Leeds city centre with easy access to the M62, M621 & M1. We were booked in to room 16 (Shantung) & our room had gorgeous views of the gardens. The room was a generous size & was one of the more expensive rooms (my husband treated us as a night escaping the children). We had a jacuzzi bath, his & hers sink & a separate shower & this again was a generous sized bathroom. The only comments that I can pass constructive feedback on is that considering the size of the room, we only had a double bed which was a bit too soft for our like (but that's personal preference) & my hubby is 6ft 3", so his feet hung out of the end. Larger rooms should have king size beds. The jacuzzi bath was fab, but the shower was very weak - definitely not a power shower & it took a while to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Our air conditioning unit kept clicking when in use, but it was a coolish night, so opening the windows solved that one. It would have been nice to have been able to check in earlier than 3pm too. The wedding was at 12pm, so we had to travel in the clothes we were wearing to the wedding & leave everything in the car during the wedding ceremony. Breakfast the following morning was good, but not as good as the wedding food. Toast was served first before our full English arrived & was a bit tough & cold. There were a choice of breakfasts available, but not much in the way of vegetarian options. There were fruit juices, fruit, cereal & small pastries available in addition to the cooked breakfasts & the pastries were lovely & freshly baked. The only other thing we noticed was that the lift had an unpleasant smell & a couple of times when I used it, I had to share it with a dirty trolley (possibly from room service). The above comments I have made are just small things that could be changed, to make people's stay a little more comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay & had a fantastic time at the wedding. Would we come back & stay again as a one night getaway? If the price was right - yes.
