I come to Somerset many times each year for business and usually stay elsewhere, my usual was booked up this trip so stayed here. Staff was pleasant and the room was clean enough.

Had a room at the back, views quite spectacular. Still there were a few nits.

My July stay was very warm by UK standards, the hotel doesn't have aircon and my room stayed >30 degrees all night long for all the many nights I was there. Others in my party managed to borrow a fan, but they had run out by the time I asked. Quite unpleasant.

More troubling, the WiFi never worked over the five days I was there. Desk staff gave a variety of answers: Use this code, don't use a code, use the other network, it's been out for weeks, etc, etc, anything at all to get you away from the desk. Still the problem went on and on, became a running joke amongst my team . . . what excuse will they give us tonight. Wouldn't have been funny if we were actually relying on it for work.

The location is great, a short 5 minutes walk into town center which has a couple of decent pubs and other quick food places. I'd stay again, though probably not at the peak of summer. It won't become my first choice.

We found the hotel to be excellent, we took our dog with us and we were made very welcome, our room was well appointed and clean, and adjacent to the garden. Meals were excellent, staff courteous and freindly, and we would recommend to anyone looking to explore Somerset/East Devon as a perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are great for dogs

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable with views of the surrounding countryside and garden. We also enjoyed our meal in the stylish restaurant. We would definitely return there.

This is a little Gem of a hotel tucked away in a sleepy little village. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff, will defiantly be going back. Good food and very clean I have traveled to Taunton for business once a month for the past 2 years have stayed in some really bad hotels so wish I had found the shrubbery before.

This is the first time we have stayed in this hotel, but it will not be the last.
We were welcomed like old friends, the service was excellent, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the bed was really comfortable.
One thing we did note is the peace and quite of the area.

We cannot recommend this hotel and it's staff highly enough, and we are already planning our next stay, when we are back in this area.

Room Tip: We would recommend a room at the rear overlooking the gardens, a beautiful valley and the Herne Hill...

Arrived for a three night stay and was warmly welcomed by Jacqueline on reception who offered us assistance with our bags, and also escorted us to our room. Our room (14) was light and airy and situated on the first floor at the rear of the hotel with views across the surrounding countryside. The room was large and well equipped, including a trouser press. There was a complimentary tea/coffee tray with biscuits and a large bottle of water. There was a complimentary computer in reception for use by guests (not used). Breakfast was very good and cooked fresh to order, and served piping hot by a lovely waitress (Lyn) who treated everyone like a member of the family. Our room at the rear of the hotel ensured a quiet nights sleep. A quiet cosy hotel with charm and attention to detail.

Room Tip: Chose a room at the rear of the hotel for a quiet nights sleep
