“Second stay = as amazing as we remember!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

I was delighted to be able to book us back into this delightful b&b after a lovely stay earlier in the year.
Fortunately we could stay longer this time, and therefore we were able to enjoy our relaxing weekend, especially with Pete and sue as our hosts.
We stayed in the Garden Room which is clean and spacious, and upon arrival we were made welcome with tea and cake.
The seperate bathroom is a luxurious space, and the little touches make all the difference.
Breakfast was to die for with freshly made croissants and a great selection of food available. And our hosts even made us lunch to take out with us during the day.
We are currently planning a return trip in 2013 for sure!
Claire & Dave

Hello Claire and Dave... for you to write another review for your second visit is an honour for us - especially as you chose us for a special occasion. Also, many thanks for the two suggestions you gave us .

This is the best B&B we've stayed in.

The owners were very helpful and welcoming, with nothing being too much trouble for them. They also made our five year old very welcome. They were always available in the background in a discrete manner. The layout was such that we didn't feel that we were invading their living space. They recommended a local pub (Five Dials) for food and it was a good recommendation. They also offered to book the table for us.

We stayed in the suite, which had the bedroom and bathroom upstairs with a private sitting/dining/TV room for our use downstairs (with comfy chairs, DVD player).

We had tea and lovely home made cake when we first arrived, and tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and biscuits both downstairs and upstairs.

The cottage is in a rural location with off road parking and a lovely garden for guests' own use.

Finishes are high quality throughout without being stuffy.

Lots of little extra touches are provided such as robes, disposable slippers, bubble bath/shampoos, hot water bottle, fresh milk in flasks (left outside bedroom for early morning tea/coffee before breakfast).

The bed linen was high quality and my wife loved the comfortable (memory foam) mattress so much that she ordered the same type for us, the day we got back home!!

Our five year old was provided with a very good quality air bed.

Breakfast was great - so much choice, great quality. We had cooked breakfasts (cooked to perfection), freshly baked croissants/pain au chocolats, high quality fruit juice, and fresh fruit (prepared in the morning) with local yoghurt. Cereals, toast, spreads, honey etc were also available.

Overall - can't be faulted!!. This is luxury accommodation with the most welcoming hosts you could ever want. Definitely excellent value for money.

Room Tip: The suite is ideal for couples with a young child.

Hi Paul,
Thank you so much for your lovely and very illustrative review and for taking the time out to write it... there was obviously a great deal of thought that went in to this and it is much appreciated! I'm glad you loved the mattress and I'm sure you won't regret buying one... Pete

We needed to stay overnight whilst in the area and selected this B & B on the basis of other comments. As most have previously said, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was substantial. Sue & Pete made us feel almost like visiting friends rather than paying guests. They told us that they were surprised at the number of nice comments that they have received on Trip Advisor and if anything, were slightly embarrassed. If you need a comfortable and affordable stay in the area, why not give them a try and hopefully you will keep them embarrassed!

Hello Skiing budgie... it's only a guess, but your moniker must have something to do with your frequent flying habits?! We loved the stories of your exploits and we only skimmed the surface! You are right; we are always taken aback by the fact that people spend so much time to make such generous comments after staying here. But, as you know, it is really appreciated... Pete

Everything was perfect! One of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. I have never slept so well whilst away on holiday. Superb mattress with a mattress topper. Everywhere was spotless and what a fabulous bathroom.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to write your comments. It's great to hear you slept well in the Garden Room king-size bed - we get a lot of comments about its comfort. Sue really appreciates your sending the bread recipe and I'll really appreciate the tasting of it (as will future guests)!
Many thanks,
Pete

It was many months ago that we stayed in this amazing bed and breakfast but we have not forgotten about it. Every time we think of having a long weekend away, we think to return here.

My friends and their other halves actually took over the whole bed and breakfast for New Year. We occupied the 3 rooms for 2 nights but could have definitely stayed longer. It was the second visit to this little haven for one set of our friends.

Upon arrival on New Year’s Eve we were very warmly welcomed by Pete and Sue and greeted with jugs of mulled wine. The perfect start to our New Year celebrations.

The rooms were all beautifully presented and sparkling clean. Having our own lounge area to relax in was perfect for us to come back and sit in after our night out and the next day to play board games in until the weather cleared for us to go for a walk.

We had a wonderful stay here and have highly recommended this place to our friends and family. The breakfast served in our own lounge was exceptionally presented, plentiful and delicious. What more could you ask for? We look forward to going back at some point.

We had a lovely 4 day break. Pete and Sue made us very welcome with a pot of tea and biscuits at any time of the day. The cottage is beautiful and the suite room extremely comfortable, The breakfast..Mmmm-yummy,home made and local produce . We had lovely weather when the rest of the country was shrouded with rain clouds. We have already booked for next year. Thankyou Pete and Sue.

Room Tip: Either rooms delightful.

really welcoming, really comfy, really helpful and really great breakfast.

we were traveling from London to Plymouth and wanted somewhere to stay to break the journey in two. This was somewhere that is more than somewhere to stay - not a stopgap on the way somewhere else (we were going to a wedding so had to carry on)! We only wish we had more time to enjoy it but would recommend it wholeheartedly and will return if possible! thank you so much for everything
