We've just returned from a trip in the Sorrentine Peninsula. As we travelled with a social programme, we found out where we'll be accomodated right before the flight. A quick look on the internet, some pictures from weddings held there and the place seemed amaizing. But things changed when we arrived. In reality, the hotel is located on the top of a mountain, in a remote village. It has a beautifull view, but to get back to the main road you can only take one bus that comes hourly and makes an hour to Castellammare, the city that is located a few km away and from where you can take Circumvesuviana to visit the region. A real waste of time!
The building of the hotel is old, with dated furniture. It looks like an old mansion. And when it comes of rooms, if you are lucky you can get a nice room with a gorgeous view. We weren't that lucky and our room was austere and needed a refurbish. But, at least, sheets and towels were clean. Our window opened towards the kitchen, so before dinner it was noisy and smelly. But except the first night, we always arrived after dinner was prepared so it didn't bothered so much. Bathroom was big enough, but the shower cabin was so so small and with fixed shower. It was inconvenient, and we received only one shower cap for the whole stay, though we were two.
We kindly asked for other room with view, but they said nothing is available, even if some rooms upstairs looked available.
We were on half board and that was another minus. Being used with dinner buffet, here we received food at the table, without having a choice. Every evening we had a soup (the same), one type of pasta and a second course which almoast every night was pork (so, as i dislike pork, i had to pass that course).
As for bearkfast, we had to eat the same stuff for 7 days: one type of cheese, one type of mortadella and one type of ham, yogurt, bread and butter and croissants. No fruits, no cereals, no honey, no vegetables. But it seems it wasn't that bad as we survived! :)
The hotel had one gorgeous terrase with pool, although no guest seemed to use it. Except the participants at the weddings being held there a few times a week. During our stay, at least three events were held there.
Another plus was the staff, very friendly and helpful.
Even if we got scared the first night about the conditions, overall it was a nice stay. But I would not go back there, mainly because the remote location.
