If you want an amazing Cotswold pub in a beautiful location, with a very warm welcome, roaring log fires, tasteful Christmas decorations, food that is delicious, comfy chairs, a very relaxing bedroom then this is the place for you. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately return.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the special rooms which was lovely. Do think it was overpriced though, but if yo...

We had a lovely, relaxing long weekend break at the Old Swan and Minster Mill. The food and the service were both excellent, and the Christmas ambience was magical. There is easy access into Oxford for sight seeing (or shopping) - although I would highly recommend the Ashmolean on a cold December day.

Room Tip: Garden rooms have a patio with fire pit or log burner - fabulous for toasting marshmallows!

the biggest selling point for me is the staff particularly in the restaurant where they are brilliant.
the rooms are very good and are real quality. it is well placed for Oxford but far enough away to add that something special. it is really worth a visit

Room Tip: Any but go for the four poster

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night in early November and could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

We arrived in the evening when it was already dark which was probably a mistake as we were unable to take in the full splendour of the exterior of this 15 century building until the morning.

The first thing that hits you as you walk through the low door in the main building is the wonderful smell of the open wood fire which is burning in the bar/sitting area, a very welcome sight on a cold November evening. Our room was up a windy staircase that required some determination to scale but the room at the summit was worth it. We had the room called ‘early’ set in the old party of the hotel (apparently there are some more modern styled rooms also), the room was lovely. A comfortable wood framed bed, set in a high ceilinged room with original wooden beams running across it. a stone fire place and a tasteful yet modern bathroom. A decanter of Sloe Gin with several generous measures was also a very nice touch.

We opted for the evening meal in the restaurant and were not disappointed. The food is in the pleasant bracket of being far better than pub food and just below fine dining without ever being pretentious. The presentation is excellent and the food cooked to a very good standard. For the record I had the scallops starter followed by the rack of lamb. For desert I had the cheese board which was unusually (in my experience) served with a piece of Honey comb. I found out the next morning this was from the Bee’s that they keep as part of the hotel. It was delicious.

This really is a hotel where you can spend the evening just relaxing in front of the fire with a drink, requiring little else in the way of entertainment. The comfy arm chairs and softly lit flag stoned rooms are a wonderful place just to unwind after dinner.

A word of caution, duck as u go through the door in the bar, the concrete plinth was not very forgiving on my head (there was a mind your head sign for any Health and Safety bods)

I always get a good feeling about a breakfast when 1, you choose it from a very small menu 2. The cooked option is not from a buffet cart and 3. It takes a little while to appear. Good quality ingredients, cooked well. Not much more you want or to be said about that.

Will absolutely definitely be returning to the Old Swan and Minster Mill

The Old Swan & Minster Mill is a wonderful hotel, in a beautiful setting. I really liked the cosy feel to the hotel, with sofas and armchairs set by warm open fireplaces, with board games available to pass the time. The rooms are a generous size, with really large comfy beds with a clean and luxurious feel. We travelled with a baby, and the hotel provided us with a cot for the room. The only criticism I have of the rooms are that the doors slam very loudly if you don't close them very carefully, and this caused quite a bit of noise when some guests returned to their rooms during the evening. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is really good, although they could have kept the cooked breakfast items better stocked.

We were staying as guests of a wedding. The hotel made a great venue for a really intimate wedding, with a relaxed and cosy evening reception. The food at the wedding dinner was great.
