After several hours of research, I decided to book our family Christmas dinner at Ther French Partridge. On booking, I was asked to arrive in time for 2pm. We arrived at 1.50, to be informed that there had been a mistake and I had been given wrong information, our table was not available until 2.30! We were asked to wait in a very cold room, not dissimilar to a GP's waiting room!! We were offered either a glass of orange juice or a glass of rosé cava. By 2.20,several more diners had arrived, ready for 2.30 sitting. At 2.30 we were once again asked our names, then informed that our table was just being cleared. By 2.45, most of the other diners had been shown to their tables. At 2.50 we were, once again informed that our table was being cleared!! Finally, at 3.30, we were shown to our table, in an extremely tight corner, in an obviously over-crowded restaurant. 10 minutes passed before a waiter took our starter order, we attempted to ask the waiter for a wine list or even just a bottle of water, but he appeared to ignore this request and walked away!! After approximately another 10 minutes, our canapés arrived, which the menu stated, would be served on arrival, with the rose cava, which, by this time, we had drunk well over an hour ago!! The standard of the canapés was, in my opinion, very poor, tasting distinctly stale! But then the starters arrived!! (I would like to point out that we still had not been offered a drink!) my mother asked the waiter who served her starter if she could have a glass of water. This had to be repeated several times, as did not appear to understand English. Whilst the waiter had gone to get the water, our remaining starters arrived. My family had either ordered duck liver pâté or Brie crostini. It was obvious that the Brie crostini had been per-cooked and refrigerated, as the Brie was melted and brown, but, on arrival, was icy cold and impossible to cut through. The pâté was presented with half a cherry tomato on top, when the tomato was removed, it was obvious that the dish had been prepared hours before and left to stand, unrefridgerated!! This was evident as the pâté had developed a wrinkly skin and a very unpleasant colour! By this time, the waiter had returned with a small bottle of water, of which he poured one glass for my mother, then turned to leave, with the remaining water! At this point, my husband went and politely asked the proprietor why we had still not been offered a drink of any kind. The response he received was to be accused, by the proprietor, of raising his voice and how dare he question his standards!! My husband then returned to our table and informed us of the proprietors response. After 6 indedible starters, still no sign of the offer of a drink and extremely rude staff, my family and I decided to leave (after already paying 50% deposit on booking!). We attempted to speak with the proprietor about our grievances, he immediately bundled us out of the door, accusing US, in a loud voice, of attempting to ruin HIS Christmas!!! I have never met such a rude and arrogant man, who clearly was not concerned about the reputation of his restaurant, or customer satisfaction. The only thing he was interested in was packing in as many customers as possible and making a large amount of money from serving sub-standard food, on Christmas Day. I would certainly recommend that you avoid this restaurant at all costs.
