1st impression, wow, slightly worse when walking on creeky floorboards towards room.
Room quite big, plenty of space, slight damp smell, massive bed.
Staff need a little kick to motivate.
Fantastic site, shame it looks like it too needs a little kick to bring it upto date.
But otherwise good location for Teeside area, although a little remote (15 min drive) into town.

I stayed here while visiting family in teeside, before booking the hotel I checked to see if I could have 10 family members over for breakfast and was told yes that wouldnt be a problem at all. Upon arrival we was greeted by a great member of the staff called Betty. On the Saturday morning the family came for breakfast, as we entered the dinning room the waitress tried to seat us separately. I explained to her we are all together and we would like to sit together as the dinning room was empty. After a roll of the eyes she started pulling tables together, I offered to help she told Me, you can go to McDonalds you know. I left my complaint until departure where the lady told me that it was wrong and the hotel manager would contact me. I'm still waiting till today. (22-08-2012) I strongly wouldnt recommend this hotel. (sorry Betty)

We stayed at this hotel as we were at a wedding at tall trees. The bedrooms are very spacious and i was very happy when we checked in.
We were told the bar closed at 2am, but at 1:20am they bar staff decided they wanted to clean up so they were closing the bar- despite their manager telling them to keep it open! They argued with the manager infront of us and had quite an aggressive tone of voice when they spoke to us, and the manager decided that they could close early!
At breakfast in the morning we arrived 20 minutes before breakfast was due to finish and when we asked for a table, the supervisor ( i assume, a man in a dark shirt ) looked at his watch and made us feel like we were being an annoyance! As its an all you can eat breakfast, some friends of ours went up for seconds only to be told that breakfast is finishing now! When the scrambled egg was running out, they came back with some fresh scrambled egg and poured it into the same dish as the old scrambleed egg which i assume was sat there since the beginning of breakfast!

Nice hotel, terrible service!!!

We had our wedding reception at the Hotel Tall Trees in May 2012.

The hotel and service could not be faulted.

There are on-going developments at the Hotel Tall Trees however these developments are not to the hotel and will not impact upon any weddings or stays at the hotel.

Lal is a fabulous manager and attended to our every need. The food, service and hotel were perfect for our big day. All our guests commented upon the wonderful service at the hotel.

Not bad but not great, room was dated and staff didn't make me feel special, would choose others instead next time around.

Stayed over after a wedding so my boyfriend could have a good drink and drive us home in the morning, wish wed of just paid the taxi! Firstly when i rang up to book the room the girl on the phone was extreamly rude and gave a 'not bothered' attitude. not when i expected from such a high rate hotel. when we got there i arrived early to have a bit of a chill out befor the night do. Paid £60 for a 'delux king sized room'. When i arrived the room was no bigger than a standered room iv had in other hotels, the bathroom however was larger than usual except the shower didnt work. The 'king sized bed' was actually two SINGLE beds pushed together! Clearly over booked themselves and not bothered to inform me of this detail. They failed to mention that the telly only had around 5 channels and the rest was a charge of £10 to have! Breakfast was included in the price and feeling a bit hungover due to the night before i wasnt planning on eating much anyway. Turns out i didnt have a choice! Using one of the small plates on offer i browsed the food that all looked rather unapertising. Tea/coffee and toast where brough by staff although we were practically out the door when our tea was brought over with no toast or milk. When i tried eating my breakfast the hash browns where extreamly greasy and the rest was just about warm. Given the reputaionof this hotel it seems to have really gone down hill! i wouldnt stay here again anytime in the future and wouldnt reccomend it to friends. The only good this its remembered for is the wedding.

It's always sad to see something that was probably once magnificent looking tired, worn down and not properly looked after, and that kind of sums up the Tall Trees Hotel.

When you pull up in the car you'll see this very modern, almost majestic hotel before you, it's big, it has a huge car park and in a way it's a bit flash. When you walk into the hotel foyer you will get an even bigger 'wow' because it's pretty magnificent, amazing fireplace, great swooping staircase and you suddenly think you've walked into a top hotel in Dubai from the over-the-top styling.
And that's kind of where it ends, because when you walk in your room it suddenly becomes a huge disappointment, it's tired and the styling here is from the 1980's with what looks like no change since.
How can they get everything else so right and the rooms so wrong?

So yes, it's clean, the room was a good size, there's a modern LCD tv, with films, etc, tea/coffee facilities, a nice bathroom, etc but it just feels so dated.

We had dinner and breakfast the next morning, the food was excellent, and I mean excellent. The restaurant manager is an absolute star and he runs that restaurant extremely well, I would come back to Tall trees again just to eat here!

When you've been here for a few hours you start looking past the flash first impressions of this hotel and see that this is a very tired hotel that's not been looked after, the walls and doors everywhere are scratched, paintwork everywhere is marked and knocked, etc, it's frustrating because if they'd kept on top of these very basic things this place would be fantastic. This lack of maintenance is everywhere, the sink in our bathroom had a large crack and the same goes for outside where the huge lawns looked like they needed a good mowing. This place could have fantastic gardens, weddings would flock to this place and yet they just don't keep on top of things, there was a bit of rubbish kicking around, outside, etc
It actually wouldn't take a whole lot of time to sort out the rooms too, they just need a interior designer to point them in the right direction instead of letting the current owner just 'have a go'.

So then, your thinking with all these faults you shouldn't even think about coming here BUT you'd be wrong, because the rooms at Tall Trees are an absolute bargain!
If you were told £100 a night you'd be right to think thatmis too much but they're only £55!!! Almost half of what you would expect to pay in a hotel that looks like this, with this interior, with this restaurant, with all this space and facilities, there's even a pool here.

Don't tell me you'd rather sit in some tiny, crappy, generic travel Inn for the same money as this that has no atmosphere, no charm, no anything compared to this because you'd be crazy if you do, this is a bargain, it's a steal, you should stay here.
