“Pleasant, good breakfast and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2014

Rooms are comfortable with good size bathroom, with dressing gowns and towels nice and plush. The staff at reception and the bar/breakfast room were pleasant and friendly in the main (though one who asked if everything was ok didn't really look sincere!). Breakfast was good, local produce use and hot breakfast cooked to your order and brought over. Plenty of space at this hotel to relax both indoor and outdoors. Did not use the spa or the pool as only there for one night. It's a bit on the expensive side when you compare with similar graded hotels.

Dear Ffiona W,
thank you for your review, I was pleased to read that you found the hotel pleasant and comfortable. Apologies if you felt the waiter was not sincere when checking that everything was ok with your meal.

I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.
Regards
Eloic

We were in Conwy for one night. Maybe this hotel would have been better if we had time for the spa. Rooms were a nice size. Bathroom with separate tub and shower; nice bath products. No AC; they brought us a fan. Not enough electrical outlets so the fan was plugged in near the door, a bit too far from the bed to be too useful. No extra luggage stand. Supposed to have in room Wi-Fi. Forget it. Barely worked in the lobby and restaurant. Conwy shops and restaurants close early. The prices were high at The Grill Room, the hotel’s full service restaurant. So we had supper at the hotel bar-terrace restaurant because there was nowhere else to go. Views were better than the food. Breakfast was nice though service was a bit slow. Nice grounds. Scenic location. Lovely day and night views of the water/marina and fortress walls.

I went here in April and it wasn't too busy so the pool and sauna area was free most of the time aswell as the gym which was nice, the treatments are good and the buffet breakfast where you can help yourself was beautiful as well as the gorgeous views in the morning and at night from the bar/restaurant terrace. The room we stayed in was more than big enough for 2 and the bed was so comfy! Lovely places to go nearby but it was easier to drive than walk as you have to walk out the quay and come back on yourself.

We stayed for two nights over the August bank holiday weekend in a standard bedroom overlooking the courtyard, because that's all that was left. Pricier rooms are available overlooking the estuary or quay but we were more than happy with the size and comfort of our spacious room which was far from basic and furnished to a high standard with a quality feel. The only problems we had here were with a non-working telephone (reported but never replaced) and one of those fancy mechanical bath plugs that decided to fail in the plugged position leaving one lucky cleaner with a bath full of dirty water to deal with. Sorry about that !

Location as others have found is excellent and I imagine those in pricier rooms enjoy the most amazing views. There's plenty of parking but to access the car park you must first cross the surprisingly busy Llandudno Junction to Llandudno railway line. On one occasion this took us a good ten minutes - signalling is such that level crossing barriers seem to come down once a train leaves the previous station several minutes beforehand. If you're travelling by train, the hotel is just a five minute walk from Deganwy station and there are regular direct trains from Manchester.

Leisure facilities are very good and free to guests. There's a £2 deposit for towels if you're using the pool (it's a deposit - you get it back!) and when we visited at around 6pm it wasn't busy at all. Children are restricted to certain times of day which means a more relaxed atmosphere in the evenings for those of us without. That's not the case throughout the rest of the hotel though and there were a few badly behaved ones running through corridors screaming on the Saturday evening, but thankfully no sleep lost !

We didn't try the restaurant for an evening meal, but did try the lounge bar which also serves a reasonable choice of popular dishes. It is a little pricey but no more so than similar establishments and there are alternatives locally if you have time to do a little research before travelling. Breakfast selection is good (bar a couple of niggles about dry croissants and missing toast) and service both in the restaurant and from other staff we encountered was friendly, helpful and courteous.

Overall we were very happy with our experience and hope to return next time we're staying in the area.

We have eaten here a few times and the food and restaurant is always a good experience. We decided to stay this time and make use of the spa. The hotel is really nice but in need of an upgrade the rooms are a bit dated and need to be redone, but they are clean. The spa was disappointing and wouldn't visit again.

Fabulous Comfortable Suite overlooking the Conwy Estuary with great views. The Staff here are lovely, helpful & happy. Bright modern decor with luxury amenities. Nice Spa & swimming pool, best to visit it during quiet times. The Bar has a good food menu, Afternoon Tea is also available. Thank You to The Manager Mr Martagnier & all the Staff for our excellent stay.

Excellent rooms top standard, so was the restaurant. Lovely food and service. The reception very helpful when needed to arrange anything. Will be sure to visit again as my only regret was we did not get chance to use the spa as we left it till the last minute to book and they could not fit us in, but if the spa was anything like the rest of the hotel it would be excellent.
