“Great food, superb menu and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

took some friends to this pub sat evening and can honestly say that all of us agreed that this was one of the best meals ever eaten in Norfolk.!
Great menu choice and very accomodating as I was on diet and amended meal to suit my needs.Steak superb on size and flavour, hand cut chips and onion rings were amazing.
Specials were spot on , both starter and main but the normal menu was also very extensive.
well kept beer and attentive staff.
cannot wait to get back to eat here again
Understand that the themed evenings are also very popular so this will be next on our list to try.

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Went there recently with a family party of eight. Had booked for 7pm.
On arrival the welcome was warm and friendly. We ordered our drinks and were shown to our table. The menu and specials board, were interesting and I felt that there was nothing that I would not eat. We decided not to have starters as we had been informed that the portions were quite large and they probably would not be needed. By 7.20pm, our orders had been taken and then we started the wait. It just went on and on, our meals finally arriving at 8.40pm, a full 80 mins after taking our order, there was no apology or explanation.
The food was relatively tasty and very welcome after such a wait and has been expected the portions were very large. We would describe the the meal as 'ok', I had steak and kidney pie, which was good and my wife had the fish which she thought was quite bland.
We ordered deserts, though these did not arrive till, 9.45pm, still without apology or explanation.
The food was acceptable, though the wait was not and on paying the bill, this was the first time for years that I had not left a tip. I would not return or recommend the restaurant.

“Very enjoyable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We visited Ye Old Buck Inn for an anniversary meal at the end of July 2013. We are very glad we choose to do so rather than other recommended local venues.

The meal was excellent and the staff were attentive to our needs. The Buck will now be our first choice when we decide to eat.

The special nights, steak Wednesday, Fish & chips Fridays are excellent value too, the rest of the menu is competitively priced as is the wine menu.

“Crackling makes a roast pork dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

I know this may seem really petty, as its a very small part of a meal but when ordering a pork roast dinner which is advertised on the menu as served with crackling, it is missing from your dish. Unfortunately we weren't told there wasn't any as apparently we had the last two dinners. Shame that we saw two meals go past us minutes before with huge pieces of crackling. Perhaps knowing you can sell another two meals, it would have been wise to share the crackling out. When asked if everything was ok, we mentioned it, the server apologised but offered nothing in exchange. I don't expect much but you don't need to hide the fact there isnt any on my plate and it would have been nice to be offered an extra roast potato or Yorkshire pudding. Never mind, the pork and gravy was tasty but the veg was reheated. I suppose thats what i get for turning up at 6pm. The good news is that my stepson loved his fish and chips and he's usually really fussy where ever we take him. On the upside, the atmosphere was good and child friendly.

“Great food, huge portions!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We ate in the beer garden which was pleasant. The staff were friendly. The food was gorgeous. There was lots of it - we'd ordered starters and mains - the starters were huge which didn't leave much room for the main course (again, a huge portion). Would definitely recommend the fish and chips, pie of the day, and the children's chicken goujons - nothing cooked from frozen.
