Description: Set in the quiet estate surroundings with mountain views, our relaxed Hayloft Restaurant combines the very best of our estate grown foods and local produce to bring you a 'taste of Wales' right from our very own doorstep. The restaurant itself is a beautifully converted hay barn, with a rustic yet modern appeal and a menu designed to showcase the fantastic Welsh larder available. During seasons we have some rare and exciting meats on the menu that have been sourced from local farms, these dishes are lovingly designed to showcase the amazing local produce available. At Bodnant we pride ourself on the freshness and quality of our seasonal Menu. The bread is freshly baked in the Bodnant bakery, the fish and shellfish is locally sourced with passion wherever possible and prepared by our fantastic Chef, the meat on offer is from our butchery and our ice creams and cheeses for our puddings and cheese board are produced in our dairy. If you have any question about any of the food or farms that we have used the team would be happy to talk to you about our high quality produce we have on the menu for you.

“A very pleasing venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This restaurant overlooks the Conway River and so the views are quite spectacular. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and efficient. The whole complex of farm shop, cafe, cookery school and restaurant are housed in lovely buildings. It is a very tasteful development.

We had visited earlier in the year and signed up for their loyalty card. Imagine my surprise when I received a birthday card, inviting me to take a free, three course meal (for one) in their Hayloft Restaurant! This was clever marketing, but very generous at the same time! We probably wouldn't have travelled quite so far for a birthday celebration, if we hadn't received the kind offer.

It was generous too, because not only could you have a three course meal from their early bird menu, which sounded very good, but also from their a la carte menu. My husband and I chose from the latter.

The restaurant is very spacious, beautifully furnished and has amazing views. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We had a lovely time! We will return.

“Dissapointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

This was our 3rd visit to the Hayloft. Unfortunately it seems to be going downhill. The staff and the setting are all superb but there are parts of the menu that need to be readdressed.I did have difficulty with the starters on the Early Bird menu ,but this was dealt with beautifully,in fact the starter became the best part of the meal. The biggest problem and one that has occurred on each visit is the quite dreadful pastry, sweet or savoury it really is most unpleasant. There is also a lack of flavour in some of the dishes. We did feel after last nights meal that it rather echoed the weather,a bit of a Wash out.It is a shame as we had thought originally that we had found somewhere very special.

“Much improved cafe-certainly worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

My wife and I had assiduously avoided eating in the cafe here (preferring the more formal Hayloft) due to much poor feedback from friends. After hearing that things had improved we thought we would give it a go. We were pleasantly surprised.

The wait for our order to arrive was to be expected-because the food is freshly cooked, it was attractive and very tasty. The burger was certainly the best I have ever eaten in the U.K. and many parts of the U.S..

We will be visiting the cafe more often as we feel that lunch in the Hayloft is now out of our price range and will be visited on special occasions only. The recently introduced `early bird` slot in the Hayloft is more reasonable which may tempt us.

After teething issues the café at Furnace Farm Bodnant is steaming ahead and is earning a reputation as a premier place to visit.

“Love this restaurant!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We have visited this restaurant twice now, once on a Thursday evening with a lovely harp playing in the background & once on a Monday evening. Both times the meals have been beautiful. We were made to feel very welcome & nothing seems too much trouble for the staff. The manager Chris does all he can to make you feel like a special guest... & it works. Can't wait for the next visit!

“Hayloft”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

A pleasant surprise. We had intended to go to Betws but rain and parking awful, passed here on the way home.
Lovely surroundings, the staff co-operative, attentive but not pushy. Sea bass excellent. My sister had chicken which she loved. Definately call again
