“Excellent Pub/Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Didn't know anything about this place but was driving past and the outside of the pub looked so picturesque that we thought its got to be worth going in. From the moment we walked in, the bar staff were very pleasant and this also applied to the restaurant staff. The al a carte menu offers enough choices for all tastes and the food we ordered was excellent but a special mention must go to the "6 hr braised lamb henry" that my wife ordered, it was food heaven. The food served at our neighbouring tables all looked very good. My fruit crumble dessert was devine and the next table got the pavlova, it was huge, he's probably still there now finishing it. My only gripe would be that we live too far away to make this our local but we will be making many more visits.

“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Myself and my partner went to The Star Inn by recommendation of a family member. We were not disappointed by the quality of food and service provided. The new head chef has stepped up to the mark and provided a great menu and fantastic food. We do not have a bad word to say about this pub/restaurant. We will be recommending this to family members and friends.

“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

This restaurant came highly recommended but was a real letdown. Went with family for Sunday roast (albeit at 5 o'clock) but that's no excuse for the poor food. We had the roast beef and could hardly cut it let alone chew it. Only a desert spoonful of veg and some very watery mash, a few roast spuds and a yorkshire pudding piled high like 'posh nosh'. It was only lukewarm. The desert was fine but the coffee afterwards hardly tasted of coffee (and how hard is THAT to make). It is rumoured that the chef left the week before we went so hopefully things will improve again. However it will be back to the Beeches at Standich for me.
