3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

This hotel is well situated in pleasant surroundings and a short distance from local amenities. The staff are friendly and the rooms generally passable. The place is overdue for refurbishment. Stay there by all means but don't use the adjoining restaurant, the quality of food served there leaves something to be desired. Go find another pub.

This hotel looks a little odd from the outside, not your typical premier inn and I guess they took over another property. There was a warm welcome from reception and the rom I had was spacious, the bed comfortable and it had it's own balcony overlooking the cricket pitch behind so it was quiet at night. Despite the outside looking old the room was new, no wear & tear and the bathroom to the same standard. It's well placed for north Bristol or the Severn crossing. There is a chef & brewer pub on site which was good for dinner but breakfast was drab and overpriced, travel 1 mile towards Bristol and there is a pub offering all you can eat for £3.99!

Room Tip: Room 209 overlooks the cricket pitch at the back with a balcony

Loved this retro location overlooking the thornbury cricket pitch and had the weather been nicer would have loved to have sat out on the balcony watchin people play or practice. Although a straight conversion from a 60/70's motel the room was spacious enough and offered the practicality expected from Premier. The breakfast was the great standard Premier buffet with the cooked elements done to order. All was just what we hoped for and know. The only slight negative was the noise from the air vent just outside our room so just as well it was too cold to open a window or sit on balcony and I handily had earplugs with me for night time. I did not complain at the time as we were not in the room much, I had my earplugs for night and it was too cold to open the window. Other than that slight irritation our stay was very pleasant and we would stay another time if we should be in the area.

For a premier inn I was surprised I missed the hotel and drove striaght past. If you dont know the area an easy mistake. The venue reminded me of the Hi Di Hi holiday apartments.
I had a ground floor room that had a patio door and a little outside area overlooking the cricket pitch. A nice location in the summer.
The room was very nice, but very dated, spacious and clean.
Corridor noise is a problem.
It is not the normal Premier Inn I feel it more 'laid back'.
The pub next door is good, it was quiet whilst I was in there and I still had to wait to get my bill and then wait for the waitress to return to take the money.
At breakfast the credit card machine failed so I offed to take my bill to the hotel to pay, which I did, very trusting.

Room Tip: I suggest the 1st floor better then the ground floor, where there is noise from above and the corrid...

We were disappointed in this Premier Inn, probably one of the most unattractive and out dated Premier Inns we've ever stayed in. It was clean, but definitely needs some modernisation. It needs tighter fitting doors to prevent corridor noise. We were also woken at 5.30 am by the people above us and mentioned this to the receptionist, who just made some comment about workers leaving for early shifts. We had forgotten about the 'Good Night Guarantee'! I suppose we shouldn't have been surprised about the hotel as we got this for a bargain price of £40 per room, so maybe that's a lesson for us. We did have interconnecting rooms which we had pre-booked.

The restaurant (The Ship Inn) was excellent. Dinner service was excellent. The food was good value, well cooked and tasty and the ambience was good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast in the same venue was the opposite. Our initial greeting was a bit brash with a 'hadn't we booked and were we not told to book?'! But once past the initial brashness we were treated in a much friendlier fashion. The breakfast was fine, we had the continental option. The breakfast room looked much more shabby than the dining room, and had a more unclean feel about it, maybe this was just due to being day time rather than dimmed by night lights - I can't be sure.

Overall, probably wouldn't go back to this particular Premier Inn, although the dining restaurant was exceptionally good.

If we have the need to stay on that route again, we noticed that there is another Premier Inn not much further along the M5 so might try that one next time.

Booked this hotel to stay in as it was near the wedding venue. Helpful , friendly staff. Arrived before book in but were happy to take luggage, arrange a taxi to take us to the venue. Hotel was warm and spotlessly clean. Everything you need is there and we had a very quiet nights sleep in a comfortable bed and a lovely shower in the morning. I love my showers so I always test them out! We had a lovely breakfast in the adjoning Ship, loads of choice and was brought to the table piping hot. Once again first class marks to the staff - lovely. Wished we'd called in the night before for a end of evening drink as it was very cosy. Only downside - and nothing down to the staff or hotel - but it was a bit expensive for just a room (£70),must remember to book earlier apparently it's cheaper as someone in our party at the wedding had booked for £19.99!!
