“Nice Stay.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

We spent 4 nights here and found it a very handy location to access all destinations around the area, it's only a mile walk down to Thornbury which has some nice pubs to find food in. Bristol is not far away and there is a bus stop just outside the hotel which will take you into Bristol or to Cribbs Causeway, beware though a return journey was £12 for the two of us!! take the car instead...

The room was very comfy and big too and a bonus of a balcony overlooking a cricket pitch, the hotel looks dated from the outside but once inside it is very clean with friendly staff, they even put out spare bowls with milk, coffee, sugar, tea sachets which is a nice touch.

The Ship in which is next to the Premier Inn offers a nice cosy atmosphere with excellent food, we ate there on two occasions and both nights the food was excellent.

Breakfast is the usual Premier experience, nothing to moan about really except I do wish they would have hot enough water for a decent cup of tea and have enough white bread in stock to satisfy the masses, other than that there was enough to keep you going all day if you wanted.

We would stay here again if we needed to.....

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony....

Stayed here last week not the best weather we,ve had. The location is semi rural and not too far from the m5. There is an adjoining pub which was very nice and good value. We had a family room which was very large with a balcony overlooking the cricket field which would have been fab if we had the weather. Very good value premier inn will definitely be coming back

We used this hotel for an overnight stop to break the journey on the way to Cornwall. The initial impression is not great with the outside of the Hotel looking a bit like a faded Motor Inn but the rooms are of a good standard, quite large and clean and up to the general standard you come to expect from a Premier Inn. There is plenty of parking and the usual dining facilities are provided by an old Inn immediately adjacent. All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming and keen to provide the Premier Inn 'Good Nights Sleep' ethic. We ate at the adjacent Inn in the evening as well as for breakfast and once again staff were very pleasant and the food of a more than adequate standard.

Stayed here for 2nights for 3 seperate weeks while on business. The room were spacious, tidy & most overlook the local cricket club with balcony. Great staff which were all friendly & helpful about local restaurants, etc. Highly recommended hotel if staying in North Bristol area.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

This review has 2 aspects :
1. The hotel is unusual, a lovely location especially if you get a balcony room overlooking the cricket pitch. The village location is quiet, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and clean, let down, like most Premier Inns, by old CRT televisions and lack of channels. There is 30 minutes free Wi-FI before charging, which you might need as there is very poor mobile and 3G reception here.
2. The restauarent is not the normal Whitbread establishment but a Chef and Brewer which we normally find has a good evening menu. This was still true and we had a good evening meal with the staff coping well with a large party at the same time.
The poor aspect was breakfast, on Sunday this was available from 08:00, we had to queue to get into the breakfast area to be told they already had 150 people in and there would be a minimum 30 minute wait, the staff were rude and unhelpful , probably they were stressed but that is not good enough for people working in hospitality. We decided to start our journey and look for breakfast en-route after getting a refund for the prepaid breakfast from the hotel. We know that the pub and its staff are not part of Premier Inn or Whitbread but they need to sort out their contractual obligations with Chef and Brewer other as they have an effect on there customers. As regular users of Premier Inn this would certainly influence our choice of hotel in future.

This Premier Inn met the consistently high standards of the chain. It is situated in a fairly rural setting rather than on a motorway or retail site. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The bathroom offered a bath as well as a shower. I loved the balcony overlooing the village cricket field where we were able to watch some juniors playing. The adjacent Ship Inn offered rather standard but acceptable meals. It was an ideal place to break our journey and by booking well in advance offered excellent value for money, in my opinion.

OK, you know what you're getting, bit all still seems very soulless. Very frustrating that Alveston seems to be a mobile coverage black spot, which made it difficult to get work done in the afternoon of my stay. Food in the bar is a 3/10 and tasted very microwave friendly, ditto the breakfast. I doubt i'd stay again.

It really matters to us that our guests enjoy every aspect of their stay, and for this reason your feedback is very much appreciated as we endeavour to improve standards and meet all our customer’s needs.

Thank you also for your comments regarding the adjoining restaurant. This is not a Whitbread run establishment, but we will ensure that your feedback is passed to the company responsible for this establishment.

We hope to welcome you back soon.
