“Alveston House Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Having stayed at Alveston House Hotel on a number of occasions over the last year or so, I can thoroughly recommend it as very well run establishment whose staff are always helpful and courteous.

It's handily situated, sensibly priced and even dog friendly!

We stayed here for 1 night en route from Cornwall to Manchester. Everything about the Hotel was excellent from the reception to the quality and cleanliness of the room to the evening dinner and breakfast. The staff in particular were extremely professional and friendly.

Room Tip: Room 33 is excellent.

I recently attended my son's wedding at this hotel and the staff went out of their way to make it such a special event. Although the hotel is not large it has a cosy family ambiance and was good value for money

I stayed overnight on a business trip, hadn't stayed here before but it looked good on web searches. I have to say it llived up to the billing. The staff were very friendly, the rooms spacious and fitted out to a high standard, dinner in the restaurant was very good as was breakfast the following morning. I would certainly stay here again and I've no hestiation in recommending the place. Excellent.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We had a one night stay, on an evening when the restaurant was apparently closed for a private function. This may have been a pity, as the breakfast served was excellent - nicely presented with good opportunity to select from a wide variety of cooked alternatives.

The common parts of the hotel (lobby and restaurant) were very nicely decorated and furnished to 4 star standard. However, there is no escape from the outside location (which looks more of a layby off the main road than I had envisioned from Tripadvisor) or the plain appearance of the hotel itself.

We felt that the thing that let the hotel down was the standard of the rooms themselves. Even having booked a "superior double" at £125, we found it rather pokey and with an ensuite that was cheaply crammed into an alcove in a manner more suiting to a low-budget hotel.

It met our needs - but that was about it. Service was fine and everyone was very friendly and helpful, but the accomodation is more limited than we'd expected and we were quite glad to be staying only one night. The location was very convenient though, being very accessible to north Bristol, the Severn Crossing and M5.

Room Tip: I wish I knew. Don't choose 36?

Marvellous. From the moment we walked through the door to when we left, the atmosphere was friendly with the staff providing excellant service from reception through to dining which was extremely tasteful.
Nothing was too much trouble.Unfortunately I have to travel a lot and will be staying here again when the opportunity arises.
Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable
