Have to agree that the rooms are above a very noisy Restaurant.
and next to the road. The rooms are nice and clean but just too noisy.

My Girlfriend and I stayed at the Morlan Hotel for a quiet weekend away and it was an unmitigated nightmare from start to finish.

Our first surprise was to find it not on the coast and in fact on a fairly busy through-road and therefore certainly not boasting idyllic vistas as advertised on its website - I know very well that you shouldn't assume anything but the images used on the hommpage are grossly deceptive.

Shortly after, we checked in with no problems only to find the room we were booked into (Ty Helyg) was situated directly above a restaurant, which is normally not such an issue, but the problem was the noise level emitted from it. There was an incessant clanging of pots and pans, the echos of which reverberated around our room loudly. Restaurants will always be noisy but to have any soundproofing between it, and other rooms, made of tracing paper seems idiotic at best.

This was in the afternoon, let alone the evening!

As well as the noise above there were also issues with the alarm system which consistentily sounded during the day and evening.

The room was reasonable apart from the noise but we decided to share our issues with the manager. There was a funeral being held downstairs in the bar which we were very aware of, so when we got to the bar (which she was behind) we made our complaint to her very carefully with that in mind. She made no effort to address our concerns, using the funeral as an excuse, saying comments to the effect of "Can't you see there's a funeral today?" - as if we didn't feel bad enough! She then began to raise her voice and shout at us in front of all the patrons in the bar. It was awful.

We later returned to ask for our money back to which the manager replied "No, you've booked for three nights so you must stay for three nights or lose the money". We sort of agreed with having to stay the first night, but another two with a constant din?

In the end we stayed the first night then left as early as possible the next day.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and stylish despite the hotel looking very 60ish from the exterior. Don't let that put you off ! It is well placed near two safe beaches with coastal walks on the doorstep. We visited Mwnt nearby, a beautiful sandy cove cradled between spectacular cliffs. How lucky,a dolphin came right in near the shore and was leaping out of the water. Many bird species were seen, this is a walker and naturalists paradise.
We were told the seals' pup on some of the beaches in autumn, we must go back!
The Minted Lamb Restaurant is attached to the Hotel and offers a wide choice of menu at realistic prices. I had the Minted Lamb Steak and it was certainly scrummy.
