“Good day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Great museum - lots of exhibits - all very well set out over many aircraft hangers - history of flight both commercial and military and the land forces building is very good. Suitable for all ages.

Tip - We went on a very cold day - no heating in these huge buildings and very cold walking from one building to another on this exposed site - so wrap up well!

“So Interesting and lots to see and my two boys 10 and 6 they loved it.”

But it was too cold. Make sure u have gloves hat and lots layers. The buses from cambridge to Duxford are a nightmare. Why they don't have a direct bus from cambridge to Duxford?

“Educational and fun family day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Due to the cold easter weather we needed to keep the kids out of the cold so we headed to the Imperial war museum at Duxford. Quick easy access from A1, good parking and even though the car parks were 80% full no real queues at the ticket office. There are 8 hangars full of exotic commercial and military aerospace and land vehicles. We have 3 daughters 2, 9, and 11yrs so my wife was very sceptical about the visit. To her great surprise both the kids and her found it fascinating. So much so she would like to go back kids free to spend more time looking at the exhibits in more detail!
There is so much to see and do you need to spend the whole day wandering through the 8 large hangars. The is a good sized themed play area for all the kids, and ample restaurants for sncks or meals. It is a long walk from hangar one to eight and make sure you take warm clothes as the wind whips across the airfield and can be very chilly as we experienced especially for kids in push chairs. Fabulous look forward to going again. Note adults pay kids under 16 go free.

“can't get enough.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Have visited many times over the past 40 years. On my own , with adults , with children , with school parties , with Air Cadets. Every time has been a good and rewarding experience as this is a living museum and you never know quite what you'll find in the hangers and its great to see the progress on the renovations which are happening before your eyes .
Take a picnic ( not because the food their is expensive) but there are loads of grass areas to sit out in and enjoy the surroundings. The only negative comment I can think of is that it would be really nice if there was more refreshments available (maybe next to the Tower) as at present its either end of about a 1 mile walk which is too far on a sunny day, But I guess thats why they invented water bottles!! Be warned the site is huge and you will walk miles but you and the kids will sleep well!

“Great Days Photography!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Such a lot to see and photograph in a day, I will have to go back again soon. I am not a huge war or aeroplane fan but I really enjoyed seeing these old planes and the history of them a lot of which I found out afterwards on the internet whilst trying to name the ones I had images of!
I mainly went to take photos as that is my obsession and came home with many prize winning images. I enjoy taking smaller detail shots and those are to be had as well.
I particularly enjoyed the American plane section as the shape of the building was fantastic also many of the planes had good features to photograph.
Thoroughly recommended
