“A Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

I often stay in budget hotels such as Travelodge and Premier Inn but had not tried a Days Inn. It exceeded my expectations. The room was large and well set out with everything you would need. Plenty of wardrobe space; two chairs; large shower; separate wash basin; comfy bed etc.
The room was spotlessly clean and all the plumbing worked noiselessly. For an hotel in a service station, this was extremely quiet - never heard a thing. So, although this is not a five star hotel, I have rated it five stars for an excellent budget hotel and convenient stopover.

Stayed here for two nights when visiting Cambridge. Friendly and helpful staff on reception. Corridor looks a bit tired but the room we were given, a large family room at the rear of the hotel, was clean and comfortable, it also had an excellent, spacious shower. The room was quiet and looked out on to a grassed area with rabbits hopping about. Be aware that the family rooms have doors to the adjoining rooms and may prove noisy. This didn’t matter to us though as the next door room wasn’t occupied.

There is a food hall right next door to the hotel which can be accessed without going outside and several different fast food outlets are there.

Hotel is very handily placed, being at the rear of a service area means getting food, petrol, newspapers etc is no problem at all. Cambridge only a few miles away is readily accessible too.

Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

For a cheap business stay the Motel is probably well located with easy access to the A14, M11 and A1 . However if you are visiting Cambridge as tourist you may wish to book something closer. Parking in Cambridge is typically £24 a day. There is a park and ride bus service to Cambridge about 10 min drive away from Days Inn (Swavesey or Longstanton) -£4 - last return bus is about 1800 hours.
Regarding the Hotel - it is sited within a major Service area though our room was surprisingly quiet given the neighbouring services. The reception service was helpful though local knowledge not the greatest. I was provided with iron and ironing board on request. The room itself was tidy though the shower area really could do with clean; Lot of damp and mildew marks around the shower cubicle (room 121). There is free wifi in rooms that works fine though be aware it requires you to accept future contact from sponsored sites. Overall a pleasant stay.
If you want to eat locally recommend The Golden Ball Inn at Boxworth. Not the cheapest but fantastic food in a very comfortable and welcoming environment.

Room Tip: Rooms 117 to 125 I feel are ideally located on the ground floor and are quiet without any noise from...

Stayed here for one night whilst attending a meeting in Cambridge. I was pleasantly surprised never having stayed in this hotel chain before. I arrived late in the evening but found the reception staff friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable and very clean. Free WiFi in the room was a bonus. Although the hotel is on a service station site next to a busy road my room was quiet and I enjoyed a good nights sleep. Proximity of the service station facilities was convenient. Within easy driving distance of the. Town.

This Days Inn never lets us down. Friendly welcome, clean rooms and comfy beds. It's easy to park close by, there's good and consistent wifi and tea and coffee making facilities in every room. We popped through to the services to have something to eat and there is also an M&S on hand. Altogether this is very good value for money and never let's us down.

I am a regular patron of Days Inn around the UK and rarely have any problems however this latest stay really took the biscuit.

I travel with a large dog and usually request a ground floor for his convenience and mine.

However, I do leave the hotel room during the day and do not leave the dog in it, leaving my property at risk.

It is totally indefensible to let a room that contains this level of risk. (Room 105)

Room Tip: Avoid Room 105 or any other that does not have a lockable window!
