Are checking out the reviews on here and the fact they could accomodate our dog we booked a mid week stay for 1 night. I chose the new river view room downstairs which was doggy friendly. The location was lovely, arriving early we set off from the main car park in Malham and walked to Janets Foss a lovely waterfall then on to Gordale Scar then Malham Cove. After the walk we found our hotel and parking in teir roomy car park crossed the charming bridge to sit outside Beck Hall and have afternoon tea. We were they shown our room which was lovely with a nice view of the river. The four poster bed was very comfy and the bathroom nice although no bath, but that wasnt a problem for us. A good supply of tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits were provided. Only thing I will mention as a slight problem was the TV on the wall could not be moved in such a way that we could both see it from the bed, I had a post in the way from the bed!. A short walk away and we found the Lister arms were we enjoyed an evening meal, they even allowed our dog to dine with us. Breakfast was ok with them setting up a table in the lounge so our dog could sit with us. Checkout was no problem, they dont charge extra for dogs but welcome a £1 donation per dog for extra cleaning . Overall a charming B & B, we will deffinately stay again.

having read all the reviews, and deciding that the good reviews outweighed the negative reports we decided that it looked like our sort of place take a look at the video, what you see is what you get, quite peaceful surroundings and a chance to chill out and relax. we stayed in the green room complete with four poster bed and no tv! which all added to the feel of less hectic times. we both found the owners to be very pleasant and helpful breakfasts were both large and well cooked with plenty of choice malham has two pubs both offering food ,we tried the buck inn and found it to be very good with huge portions of well cooked food, can`t comment on the lister ph as we never tried it . enjoyed it so much that we have booked to go again in april.

We stayed at Beck Hall for one night. It was excellent. We had a room in the new Annex (which will allow for the opportunity to refurbish some of the other rooms).

The property verges on being a small hotel now with the annex but still has much of the coziness of a B&B. That said, it's certainly NOT an hotel ... Having stayed in falling apart budget hotels in the UK charging comparable prices especially after you add the cost of breakfast, you realize this is very reasonable. There is an expectation that B&Bs should be comparable in price to budget hotels ... but people seem to forget the &B. One popular chain charges nearly 8 pounds per head for a meagre breakfast. That quickly makes the B&B cheaper and staying at Beck Hall was no exception.

The room was clean, bright and comfortable, overlooking the brook. The bed extremely comfortable, and I soon know if I get a bad bad! Most hotels offer inroom tea and coffee. Beck Hall adds hot chocoloate to the list.

Breakfast was either cold (cereal / yogourt / fruit) or the traditional English which I opted for (Hold the fried bread!) The sausages were absolutely delicious and complemented a well presented plate. Toast (wholewheat and white) with marmalade rounded off the meal with a nice cup of coffee.

The location on the "other side of the brook" (which becomes the River AIr) was a bit odd with the parking lot in the non-obvious location, and the stone bridge was a bit frightening with a 36 lb suitcase! We inadvertantly went to the wrong building and upset a neighbour. Clearly the neighbour's doors need signs saying "Not Beck Hall".

Simon and Alice go a long way to accomodate the needs of the guests.

With the main part of the hall a 17th century building built partly into the hillside, maintenance is always going to be a problem, but that's what makes B&Bs an adventure. Sure better than a Travelodge!

“A lovely place to stay!”

Beck Hall Malham

Stayed at the Beck Hall, after finally finding it - Not the Beck Hall's fault at all - my Sat Nav had taken me to Airton down the road, despite putting in the postcode correctly.

That said, the 2 night stay here has been excellent! We were given the Wharfe room, which though slightly on the small side, had a 4-poster bed, modern bathroom with power-shower and walkin wardrobe, spotlessly clean, in-room tea/coffee making facility and with a flat screen LCD TV with SKY channels (albeit, only the free channels). The Beck Hall also offers FREE Wifi internet connection & an honesty bar - and lets face it, there's not may places that do these days are there.

You seem only to be able to pick up 'Orange' mobile phone signal up here and the roads around these parts can be quite narrow and windy, so best not to bring a large car (as I did, doh!) and take care when driving as walkers are out and about.

The proprietors, Simon and his wife, as well as the room service girls are most welcoming and pleasand and they try hard to make your stay as pleasant as posible. Breakfast was well cooked and caters for most, including vegetarians.

I'd highly recommend the Beck Hall for anyone wanting to explore the Malhamdale area. A beautiful area of the country, and Beck Hall is the perfect place to stay, for all ages.

“Wonderful”

We found Beck Hall to be brilliant and I was surprised to see what others have written below.

The three nights we stayed were relaxing from start to finish. The room we had was lovely although it was the green room (the blue and green rooms seem to be highly rated).

The log fire in the lounge is lovely and the honesty bar makes it very welcoming (I would still recommend dinner and drinks at the Lister Arms for anyone visiting Malham).

The full english breakfast was lovely. It was also very useful that they were able to cater for my wife who is a coeliac (gluten intolerant), which is rare. We didn't feel inclined to try the evenings meals, mainly because of the Lister Arms' appeal.
