Such a good stay for the price! Shared bathrooms worried me but I was pleasantly surprised, they're very clean and modern. Buffet breakfast was amazing and cheap. Wifi is good for being public and we had no trouble with it. Good location, too! Only problem is trying to find a park. Will definitely stay again!

Probably best value for money if you are a budget traveller who's not keen on staying in a backpacker filled party holes. Rooms are small but clean. Our window didn't shut properly and only thing staff did to address that matter was that they said they are sorry. (So that takes out 1 point). If your looking good value and a location not too far from town this is your place.

I stayed here 7 years ago and loved it. I got the same room this time (57) but this time we had a TV safe and fridge. The breakfast is amazing self serve setup. Eggs bacon cereal baked beans hash browns spring rolls yogurt sausages toast juice tea coffee. There is also coffee and cake café. The rooms are very clean as are the bathrooms. You will need to take your hair dryer. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is also a great outdoor area to enjoy. Close to great café & restaurants and only a 5 min walk to the ferry then a 5 min ride to Circular quay. Can't fault it. Our room cost us $64 each and a single room was only $80.

Glenferrie Lodge is a treasure. It is very affordable, comfortable and so convenient. It;s a 5 min walk to Kirribilli wharf where you catch a ferry to Circular Quay. It is very close to Admiralty House, so the police and security presence make for a safe feeling. The rooms are adequate, no frills, but who's complaining when the price is so good. The buffet breakfast (included in the cost) is delicious, and there are areas outside where you can eat when the weather is good. Parking is the only issue - you can drive around the streets for hours before finding a park. Don't expect to get a park in the same street as the Lodge! We have stayed here several times and will be back again and again.

Arrived in pouring rain and had to lug suitcases across road and up two flights of stairs to reception, checked in and then had to lug suitcases up another two flights of stairs and across a steel walkway joining two buildings together to get to the room. Walked in and walked out, back down to reception, they did not advise it was share bathroom, wanted to up grade to en-suite but Easter and full. Back to the room, in the rain and double bed with 50 CM to the wall each side and a fan and a window and a bar fridge. Others staying there were happy and used to conditions. The thing that they did claim and was true was the breakfast which was buffet and all you can eat and good quality.
Other gripe was they allow animals and a woman was washing her Maltese in the bath.
Would go back if I could get a room with en-suite

Room Tip: Try lower floors unless you have back packs as no porters and no lifts.

Dear Grant S,
I firstly wish to thank you for your review. I am sorry that the hotel was not as you expected. We are predominantly shared bathrooms. there are a few rooms with ensuites and we are currently building more but the vast number of our rooms have shared bathrooms. We do try to ensure that all guests know this and it's on all our marketing.

I am glad that you enjoyed the breakfast it is one of our highlights.

I hope that you do come back and visit us again. as we are installing progressively more bathrooms and they will be brand new and I think quite lovely.

And to the dog being washed in the bath, I can only apologise for this. It's not common (first time I've heard of this) and as part of the refurbishment we are removing the baths as there are only 2 and not appropriate for a shared bathroom facility.

Sincerely

Jean-Claude

Spent my Easter at Glenferrie Lodge and loved every minute of it. Such a home away from home, quaint rooms, great buffet breakfast, close proximity to ferry and Circular Quay. Take a walk and enjoy the iconic sights of Sydney located at Kirribilli. No problem with shared bathrooms - thanks to all staff for hospitality - look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Stairs to level 3 may be a concern to elderly guests.

Dear 54Barb2013,
I want to say sincerely thank you for your lovely review. It's a pleasure to read and I am so happy that you had a wonderful Easter stay at Glenferrie. I have also forwarded your comments to all the staff who are always working hard and love to hear from guests. I do agree that for guests with problems regarding stairs that the 3rd floor may be difficult. We do have rooms on the ground floor which you can always book if you contact the front desk directly.

Again thank you for your review and I hope that next time your travels bring you back to Sydney that you will come back to Glenferrie.

Sincerely

Jean-Claude
