“Great Hotel with an Exellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed 2 nights. Our room was in good condtion and had a large patio type balcony, The entire staff was very helpful. Because it was easy, we opted for the halfboard, an extra 90 Euro for 2 people. I thought the price was high until I started eating. The food was outstanding. I would definately stay here again.

A gorgeous hotel in a unique location which is the focus of this charming village - apparently for locals as well as tourists. It overlooks the square and the church and has a lovely view of the mountains behind. Our room was lovely although there was no bath in the bathroom. The shower was great. The bar was very pleasant- on the piazza with an extremely polite and helpful waiter. The restaurant was also lovely with both an indoor and outdoor area- very good food. The breakfast was similarly good. We would certainly stay there again and for more than one night to enjoy both the hotel and it's surroundings.

We spent one night in May 2012, on a self-guided bike trip; the tour company picked the hotel in this tiny village at the top of a hill. The room was adequate and clean, although we were on the side facing the village plaza and above the bar, so the outside noise was a small issue that went away by mid-evening. Rooms facing out to the valley would be preferred.

We really were in the mood for a simple meal, but since there was no other restaurant option without a car, we resigned ourselves to another overwrought fancy dining experience in the hotel restaurant. We were however delighted to find a kitchen with a sure hand and excellent ingredients that charmed us. A table at the window overlooking the fairy tale Corsican valley slipping into the evening shadows helped with initial attitude readjustment.

A bit of the lovely fresh farm cheese of Corsica perked up with a hint of fresh mint baked in a wisp of phyllo was a nice amuse bouche. We went a la carte, which hurt the pocket book (menus were offered) but delighted the palate. For the first courses, a scallop dish and an artichoke led off. We both had the pigeonneau with an obscene bounty of cepes and ethereal tiny potatoes, garnished with a thin crispy strip of pork belly that was a great salty counterpoint to the livery succulent medium rare bird. The presentation was straightforward, letting the luxury ingredients speak for themselves. We split a warm, molten style chocolate tart with the usual garnishes and finished with a couple of coffees. A local Renucci red was very good at €29.80. The food set us back €129.

For a meal we hadn't really wanted at a considerable tab, we were nonetheless most pleased.

Recommend without reservations.

We only stayed one night, sadly, but found everything about the hotel and the restaurant excellent. It sits in the middle of an unpretentious little village in the hills above the coast. Our room had a great view of one line of hills after another disappearing into the haze. Pleasant shady area in front of the hotel for taking drinks, inside area and terrace area in the restaurant. Good food. Nice people. What's not to like?

My partner and I have just returned from a week's holiday in Corsica and whilst there, we took in a tour of the delightful village of Monticello, where Frank Muir once lived. We noticed the restaurant called A Pasturella (strongly recommended in our guide book) and ordered drinks on the patio whilst we surveyed the menu. The temperature was in the mid nineties so we felt that something light was in order, also I had been unwell with a stomach complaint for several days so felt I should avoid a heavy or rich lunchtime meal. I asked the young waitress in my best schoolgirl French if two rather nice salads might be arranged and she agreed but within a few minutes a very grumpy faced man came to our table and issued a statement in French that could not fail to be understood even to an untrained ear. More or less NON! as it was not on the menu. With that he turned his back and strode off. This was delivered with no hint of regret or suggestion that we try something else but rather with the firm implication that we should probably drink up and leave. I imagine this person was the manager and we complied with his request after we had finished our drinks but my word, he did leave an unpleasant taste. His face was a study in annoyance and his whole manner suggested immense displeasure. This is one place I would avoid at all costs and would not hesitate to relate this to anyone else thinking of visiting. Very disappointing behaviour - Michelin stars should be awarded not just for good food but for all round good eggs!! I should mention that we had eaten the previous day at a rather swanky restaurant on the beach at Lumio and the patron there had no problem with our similar request on a very hot day.

This hotel is situated in Monticello in the hills overlooking Ile Rouse. It is set in a very pretty old-style village. The rooms are quaint, very comfortable & clean with nice bathroom & balcony. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel has an excellent & very elegant restaurant which is very reasonably priced. We had a really great meal here accompanied by a v.good bottle of wine. Breakfast was great including a fresh fruit salad, croissants, yogurts & coffee. We only stayed here 1 night but would have like to stay longer, we enjoyed it so much!
