“Great place to see the Orang utan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We stayed here in Feb 2013. Having taken the bus from KK. we were collected from Sepilok Roundabout by the staff, taken back to this little Oasis in the Rainforest. Only small, but the people are lovely. they run a free shuttle to and from Sepilok Orang utan sanctuary. they will also arrange other trips. Labuk Probiscus monkey sanctuary not too far away either.
Rooms were fantastic, overlooking the valley. The dorm looked great too,and much cheaper. you have to order evening meal in the morning, small selection, but lovely. Breakfast included, basic but OK

This place was just lovely. Nestled in the jungle, the rooms are all cosy huts with stunning views (especially from the shower!) the staff were all very friendly. They offered free transport to/from Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. The food was nice and it had free water.

This place had everything going for it. Beautiful rooms, decent price, great staff and lovely grounds. The only reason it is not a 5 is because of the food. There is a preset menu that you choose from every day for your dinner. The food was not that good or plentiful. Breakfast was included and came out cold. Since we only stayed 2 nights it was not that big of a deal. The hotel is far from the main road so there are not any other food options. The free shuttle to and from the orangutan sanctuary is very convenient. A pleasant stay all and all.

During my trip to Malaysia, I have spent a few days in this jungle resort. I thought it was a wonderful oasis. The outdoor shower overlooking the jungle, the wok as a sink and the chalets on stilts make sure you really get into another world. There was also enough vegetarian food available at a reasonable price.
From here I went to look at the proboscis monkeys and orangutans. Then went on to a jungle safari in search of the pygmy elephants.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

We stayed three nights here in mid March. Communication via email before was very prompt and helpful, with them organising us a taxi from the airport. This is a little isolated and about 20 - 30 mins from the airport. We loved it! It is quiet and serene, and our ridge hut opened onto the jungle. They offer a free transfer to the orangutans at Sepilok and will organise a taxi to Labuk to see the proboscis monkeys. The accomodation is rustic but clean and tasteful. Make sure you bring your own toiletries as they are not provided. Free breakfast again is basic and meals can be bought cheaply for lunch and dinner. Altogether, a lovely where we would be happy to go again.

Room Tip: Take a torch and insect repellent.

We were recommended to this little retreat by a handful of friends and we weren't disappointed. As the saying goes "you get what you see on the packet". The whole staff are very obliging and its a wonderful place to stop and reflect. The chalets are quaint (although they can be hot when closed up all day) and its lovely to shower in what seems to be the open air. The free breakfast is a bonus although a one egg omelette, scrambled egg etc look a little mean and it may be worth adding the extra RM1 onto the booking price and give you two eggs.... If you stay more than a couple of days you need to ask for the room to be cleaned (you need to be there whilst the staff are in) and towels cleaned but it isn't a real issue as again its never a problem. The wifi can be terrible so don't rely on being able to book ongoing trips etc. Also no local ATMs so get money beforehand....

Room Tip: Get the best you can afford. The chalets are in a wonderful location....

I'm a little late in writing this review but as the saying goes, better late than never! My partner and I stayed here for a few nights back in September as part of a two and a half week trip we had organised to travel around Malaysia. The idea of rainforest/treetop accommodation (and we are no hippies!) appealed and we were certainly not disappointed.

The accommodation is basic, however it doesn't claim to be anything other than that. Its comfortable and provides absolutely superb views over the rainforest (depending on the room you are of course allocated). The bathroom as some mention is outside, however the amenities are clean and in good working order with a sustainable/eco feel so as not to spoil the experience.

The mossie nets come in handy and the bed was remarkably comfortable - we slept like babies!

You do however, have to be extremely mindful to follow the advice you are given - its for your own good with respect to not leaving food lying around etc. as we stupidly left some peanuts in one of our bags from the flight which ended up all over the place!

If you are someone who likes your home comforts, your soft fluffy towels and power showers then this accommodation isn't for you. If you like the feeling of being outdoors, the sound of the rainforest and don't mind a few bugs/jungle cretins then its likely you'll love it here.

This place is such a find and I'd highly recommend it for a great travel/nature experience.

Room Tip: As high up as possible - some great views to be had!
