“Great 5*-Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

The MVL is the only 5* hotel in Yeosu and definitely worth a visit.

Go and see the view from restaurant on the top floor and enjoy the great food they serve. Or have a relaxing day in the SPA and gym in the opposite building.

From the MVL it is very easy to visit the Odong-do, the small island is connect via a large "dam" right outside the MVL.

We were there for Expo but this was a excellent hotel by any standards.Yes it is new but the position overlooking the sea was delightful and proximity to the 302Kph KTX train from Seoul was worth the trip.. The staff were very helpful and the restuarant on the top floor was what you would expect in terms of drinks although we did not eat there..The Bathroom was a treat with full plate glass ceiling to floor. This made for fun showers during the day looking out at the views ,but with a modesty screen to draw around at night time.

Room Tip: corner suite was roomy and you can draw the curtains if it is summer

We had one of the Suites, overlooking the Expo Area and the sea - all very new, well decorated and really spacious.

The prices at the restaurants are not appropriate - not sure I'm willing to spend USD 24 for a plate of Spaghetti - specially not in one of the most remote parts of Korea.

Team is not used to foreigners and hardly speaks any English.

Spa and Breakfast are remarkable!

We had a balcony, so enough fresh air - I would come back!

Brand new Hotel. Clearly put there for the Expo. A am sure a big investement but I wonder what will happen to the place after the Expo is over.... Thinking sustainability...
Fabulous very spacy rooms, beautiful designed next to the Expo where you can get by Taxi but also a walk is not too far.
People working there very friendly as in general in asia but clearly not yet used to an International clientele. But I am sure that will improve. It is the best hotel to stay far & wide especially if you compare what else there is available in the surrounding. Very basic places during the Expo at extreme high rates. Than rather paying really a five star price and get the value. Can definitely recommend the place.

I was able to stay here two nites for a trip paid for the Korea Tourism Board.
The first nite I stayed in a 10th floor room. I had a night panorama of the expo and was able to see the Big-O Show from my room. The room was spacious with two double beds and flat screen tv but few english channels.
Breakfast buffet for 33,000w ($30) was included with the room. Staff all spoke high levels of english. The fifth floor garden terrace and health club is worth checking out. For an extra 7000w ($6.50) they have very upscale spa and shower facilities.
All night I had a panorama view. In the morning I was able to see the naval ship docked beside and the soldiers doing their morning exercise routine on the top deck. There is an amazing panorama view of the entire expo site and the port.
The second nite we were moved to 5th floor terrace suites. These were much larger, had a separate bedroom, balcony terrace, traditional floor dining table. From here I also had a night panorama and was able to see the evenings fireworks clearly. Only complaint was that the bedroom did not have its own tv which was only in the living room.
I did not have to pay for both nights as it was part of a promo trip organized by KTO but if you can get to stay here it really is an amazing experience and one of the best hotels I have stayed at.
To arrive the KTX station is at the far end of the expo site. You can not cut thru the expo unless you have a multi entry pass, so you would have to walk around the expo site. I'm not sure if cabs can come from the train station to the MVL due to road closures and diversions. Also in korean they pronounce it 'embel' not 'M.V.L.' as we do in english.
My only complaint is for such a luxurious room I hardly slept as with the panorama view I had the curtains pulled open both nights and was watching the sunrise over the ocean from 5am.

Best staying experience, and excellent room facilities. Though some bath room fittings and knobs bit confusing. Close to Expo, cabs are best way to commute around. Since it is near expo all the time you see VIP s Ministers , political heads of different countries - you bump in to. There is no disturbance to you at all, if you enjoy being there. Stayed 3 days in 16th floor - excellent view of Ocean.
Strongly recommend this hotel , when in YEOSU

Room Tip: Rooms on Ocean side is quite scenic , I got the best room really enjoyed mornings watching sea

this place is fancy! rooms/bathrooms are big, and great to come back to extra comfy bed after long day at expo. expo gate #1 is only a five minute walk. ktx train station is on the opposite side of the expo, so you can walk to it but i suggest taking a cab. i booked thru expo official website. was able to get a room for $150USD on a saturday, plus tax. pricey but worth the convenience/luxury if going to expo.
