“Definitely a great find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

My husband and I have just returned from a week staying at the Coral Hotel in Roda. It was also our first time time to Greece although we are regular travellers to other parts of the Med. Roda is right at the top of Corfu but with easy access to the rest of the island either by bus or excursions. We found Corfu as a whole to be staggeringly beautiful easily giving the Italian Amalfi Coast and the South of France a run for it's money: fantastic mountains, pretty villages and beautiful flora and wonderful beaches great for swimming. The sunsets were also amazing. The Coral hotel is quietly situated right in front of the beach and although there is a little road that seperates the outside dining space to the sea, this is not a problem as it is hardly ever used by cars, only passers by. The dining area/bar has a fantastic view of the whole bay (looking out towards Romania). We were on half board and enjoyed our dinner alfresco everynight in front of the sea enjoying the bay views. The sunsets from the dining area were fantastic. The whole front dining and bar area of the hotel is fantastic with fantastic views, but also quite private. The hotel is family run and the friendly service and attention to detail is one of the best I have encountered. Dimitri, the owner is always welcoming with a great sense of humour and cannot do enough for you. Niko, the bar gentleman and lady (english) waitress also provided an excellent and consistant service. The food was superior to food that we have experienced in higher starred hotels. Varied, very tasty and not too rushed. Each menu had a greek dish or greek twist (e.g. Roast beef greek style on Sunday!). As well as dinner every evening in the hotel, we also enjoyed lunch there on 2 occasions - the salads and pizza are really good. Breakfast is served in a different restautant in the middle of the hotel overlooking the pool. Continental with a good selection of bread and each day a different hot accompaniment (sausages, omelette etc.). The greek yogurt and honey is delicious! The pool area is perfectly sized and pretty, surrounded by lemon trees and flowers. Snacks, lunches, drinks etc. are served there throughout the day. The water is refreshing but not too cold. Roda town is literally 5 minutes to your left with a good selection of good quality, reasonably priced tavernas. A little further along are the best beaches. The beaches are warm, clear and clean. Our room was on two levels with a bedroom upstairs and a balcony which although side facing gave good views of the sea and bay. Although very spacious and perfectly fine for us, it did not have a bath, kettle or hairdryer which, looking at other reviews, some rooms do, so it is worth checking what rooms have what to suit your needs. Having said that we were very happy with our accommodation for the amount of time spent in there. There is a bus stop 5 minutes away in Roda town which takes you directly to Corfu Town for 3 euros on an air conditioned bus that affords fantastic views on the way. Coming back there were too many people and an additional coach was immediately laid on - excellent service. Also highly recommended is the coach excursion to Paleokastritsa on the west coast (beaches and views to die for) and a boat trip from Kassiopi to Mouse Island monastry and the island of Vidor near Corfu Town. We also spent 4 days just pottering around the hotel pool and the beach in Roda and enjoying the excellent value tavernas for lunch.
All in all the Coral Hotel provided us with an excellent base in which to enjoy our Corfu holiday - perfectly situated, very pretty, all the facilities we wanted, excellent service, great food & drinks and brilliant value for money. We will certainly recommend it to friends and family and return there if we go back to Corfu!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing balcony room

My wife and I stayed at the Coral Hotel for 10 days in late May 2011.
We were greeted and escorted to our room which was clean and bright with a view over the swimming pool and far off hills of Corfu.
The staff were first rate always with a smile on their faces and could not do enough for us.
Some comments were made that if you do not spend money in the hotel the attitude changed this was totally not true. We had one lunch and one dinner in the hotel the rest of the time we ate out, not because of the standard of food I must add as it was of a high quality, as we like to explore and the staff still retained the first rate service. The pool was checked every night by the owner. One down side was the beds were very firm. Top tip get cheap pilars from tesco and leave behind.
Breakfast is basic welcome to the EU if you wanted a full english it was available in Roda but I would say if you want egg and chips go to Spain or Blackpool.
We walked to Roda most evenings and found the resort to be quiet but still filled in our time venturing to Archavia on foot several times and Kassiopi and Corfu town on the local bus. We also booked a trip to paradise beach which was well worth doing.
Overall we would not hesitate to return to this hotel again.
The only downside of our hoilday baring the 5 hour delay going out was Corfu airport line after line to check in to but your bages through a scanner and to get through security oh yes and to stand in the baking sun for 45 minutes before we could get in to the terminal building, take some water!!!
However the review is about the hotel which was first rate.

Returned to Roda after visiting as a child every year, for the first time in 24 years. This little hotel was lovely. Dimitri is a great manager. I travelled with my friend for a week with no kids or husbands. It was very relaxing. We booked a twin superior, but when we arrived they only had a double superior available. Dimitri said we could look at this and the maisonette and choose for ourselves. We chose the maisonette as it had a mezzanie bed upstairs and a single downstairs, which was perfect. (no 42 ).
Roda itself hasnt changed alot and still has a lot of charm. Roda Park was definatly the best restaurant for food and atmosphere. The food in the hotel for lunch and dinner was good, but we like to go out , just personal preference.
Overall we had a perfect week.
If i had to find fault it would be that slightly darker curtains needed in the maisonettes, and as other people have said Corfu airport is a joke. The transfer was long on the way back and if we had thought we would have got a taxi back to the airport, but never mind.
I am a travel agent and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

This is a family run Hotel of which is a very high standard. We seen in few different rooms and the standards were all very high. The rooms have a hairdryer & kettle with cups for a coffee.
The breakfast is FANTASTIC toast which you make to suit yourself, choice of cereal, egg omlete or fried, fruit, cheese, meat yoghurt, the list goes on!!!!!! well worth getting up for.

The hotel is spotless and towels changed often. The family will do there best to make sure you enjoy your stay and all the Staff are very attentive.
There was a bit of entertainment at night and the Greek night the meal was lovely ( even asked if we wanted more).
It is a small hotel so the Guests were friendly too, this Hotel has a large number of return Guest and we will defintley return.
The pool area was lovely and relaxing. Gardens are Beautifull well maintaned. I have stayed many times in Roda and now feel the location of the Coral suits us best and for comfort.
We did eat in the hotel at night again the food was really good and prices were also very good, on the pricing I felt the bar/pool pricing were very reasonable. Also the cost of the Safe which is in your room, fridge and air con were reasonable too.

There is WIFI in the hotel or a computer which you can use for pennies.

The hotel will also sell you bottled water at the SAME price as the supermarkets will it saves you carrying it along to the hotel.

The lounge area is very comfortable which was lovely to end your night after a long day in the sun!!!

If you need anything just ask !!!

This hotel is briliant! It was our first time to Roda and it had a lot to beat from our holiday last year. It exceeded our expectation.

The Hotel itself was spotless at all times. Our room was cleaned everyday, towels changed about 3 times a week. The room was a good size with a double bed. Plenty of hanging space/storage with a good size bathroom. The reception area is very welcoming, overlooking the sea.

On to the staff at this hotel. They made the stay even better, they are all so friendly and can't do enough for you. If you need any ideas/help what to do and where to go around Corfu they will know. Their son marked places on our map of good places to go, each one being amazing!

The bar in the night was a great atmosphere with the staff again joining in on all the fun. Dancing and singing getting everyone involved, you feel like part of the family by the end of your stay.

The pool area is very relaxing, although May is quiet anyway there always seemed to be enough sunbeds. Again, always clean. The ladies at the bar would come round collecting glasses, asking if you were okay for a drink.

Another thing we really liked at the hotel was the basket of suncreams by the pool. They had started a basket, when guests leave, they put their sun cream/insect repellant/aftersun all in the basket for others to use. We thought this was a great idea that other hotels should consider trying.

The breakfast at the hotel was basic, toast, cereal, yogart & honey etc but all very nice. Again, the staff were always willing to help going out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The lunch/evening menu were also very nice if you want a nice quiet night in the hotel.

If you go bed and breakfast as we did, there are lots of lovely restaurants in Roda. Whatever you like it will be there.

The beach at the front is rocks but if you walk 5mins down the road towards Roda there is a long stretch of sand just by the pier.

All in all, this hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday and friendly staff. You always feel welcome at the Coral Hotel and we would definatly go again.

Hello, This was our first time in Corfu and it was most enjoyable. Helped by the friendly staff who made you feel very welcome. It is run by a family whose son is a delight. Would definitely go back again.

The only downside which would put us off is the shambolic organisation at the airport. I couldn't believe it when people were telling us you have to queue in a field - but you do. Even the field isn't organised, people were getting the snake style lines mixed up. One minute you were in a queue for Manchester the next Newcastle. If the airport arn't bothered surely, the tour operators could organise this better .

Room Tip: ground floor - better balconies
