“Good Holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

I was a bit worried reading the other reviews but it really wasn't as bad as the other reviews made out.You pay for what you get. This isn't the most expensive holiday so not everything is going to be perfect. There was plenty of food to choose from but it did get a bit repetitive. They always had a good choice of salad and a good balance between English and Greek food. The chocolate ice cream was very nice but i was disappointed at the amount of fruit.
I would recommended going to a few excursions as after a week you start to get bored of hanging around the hotel. If you have children aqua land is a good choice.Paleokastritsa is also a very nice place to visit.its very picturesque.
We didn't have a mosquito or wasp problem. But in our first room there was an ant problem (we moved because it was right next to a stereo and the music was to loud.)
The pool was deep but if you're a strong swimmer then its fine.
The beach is rocky but is sandy when you into the sea.
The reception staff were very helpful.
Rooms are very spacious..and everything else was great.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter. If you are at the front you get better views but there is...

We stayed here for only 1week but that seemed to long after the first day.we had booked two rooms for my family but was told on check in that the rooms would not be together and there was nothing else for at least four days meaning splitting the family apart,so we all stayed in one room with five people sharing four beds.the rooms were ok could have been a bit cleaner the toilet brush had seen better days and having a shower without holding the head would have been nice.the. Pool area was a bit small try relaxing on a sunbed whilst people are jumping in the pool gets a bit frustrating also the pool is 2.5m deep all over not very child friendly .you could pay 2euros for a sunbed for the beach which was only across the road but was very painful on your feet as beach was full of pebbles .the food was terrible the same slop every day if you like chips pasta bolingnase salad then it would be perfect there's no snacks during the day apart from ham and cheese sandwiches which we only see once or ice cream.drinks was not much better everything in plastic cups day or night every drink tasted flat or syrupy .the people who worked there were very rude and confrontational be careful if you have teenage daughters around waiters or enterttainment man very slimy .be careful about what you say to other guest because it feels like u are always being spyed on.we found this out when we complained about the food at reception and was told that we were heard speaking to another guest who also was having a bad time.that night we was called to reception to be met by two Thomas cook reps and the manager to be told that we would have to leave the hotel as we were trying to cause trouble rude and gossips the reps didn't help the situation by agreeing with everything the hotel was saying without listening to us.overall RODA GARDEN VILLAGE rubbish.if you want a poor holiday stay here good luck...

I went away with my mum on the 27th of august 2012 to Roda Garden Village hotel. We were VERY impressed with most things. i don't understand some of the bad reviews, "there were too many rules" nonsense!
So, lets start with the bad things:
The beach by the hotel was VERY stoney and hurt a lot in bare feet! once you get about 4 meters into the water the sand begins and it gets better from there but the first bit requires wet shoes!
The room was definitely no more than a 3*! very small indeed. in some places there was barely enough room to pass each other. the pictures on the brochure make the rooms look a lot bigger than they are (unless the new rooms are bigger but lots of people have said the rooms were small and basic and we were in an older room). The bathroom wasn't very pleasant either. It had a handheld shower (it was powerful and hot though!) and a bath that had no plug. it wasn't the cleanest it could have been, bath seemed to be stained with something and the toilet was just black and dirty (the tube that goes to the wall at the bottom back)
Also there was some thing that were silly, for example you could hire towels but they were 3Euros each for the day plus a 7Euro deposit each. And there was a safe in the room but you had to pay 2.50Euro each day for that if you wanted to use it.
another bad thing is that there is no lifts so you have to carry your bags upstairs. (If you need a wheelchair accessible hotel don't be put off by the lack of a lift, there is only 2 floors and so as many ground floor rooms as top floor rooms)
Finally, there is no welcome meeting, BUT i didn't think it was needed as its a small hotel and everything is straight forward. if you needed any help the staff would gladly point you in the right direction.

Now to the good things:
Pretty much everything else about the hotel! the staff were amazing! they were all very friendly, the receptionists would do just about anything you asked them to and were very polite. when you check in they take you to your room and explain what you need to know. Suzannah and Brad (the bar staff) are a great laugh. the waitors and waitresses are always smiling and clear the tables quickly. MUMU the entertainer is very funny and provides good activities throughout the day such as: table tennis, darts, water polo, aqua gym and beach volleyball.
Air conditioning was just brilliant!
there were practically no rules and it was a very relaxed holiday!
Although it was a quiet place there was plenty to do, you could walk into Acharavi or Roda which had lots of bars, shops and sandy beaches.
Everything, apart from the bathroom, was very clean as the maids did a great job! always cleaning something. (the maids cleaned the rooms everyday apart from the last which makes sense, very good!)
The food was great! lots of choices for non vegetarian and vegetarian. some things did get a bit samey but there was new things every day and so much choice that it didn`t matter that it was the same because it took a week to try the different things! Once the food had run out, it was promptly replaced with fresh supplies. No queues or waiting around.

I would recommend this hotel, with a literal 3 second walk to the beach and a very friendly community you will thoroughly enjoy it. i will definitely be returning to the hotel, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Room Tip: Try to get the back of the hotel not the ones near the bar as there is loud music that could keep yo...

Reading the reviews we were wondering what we were letting ourselves in for.
We arrived just over two weeks ago after a coach journey from the airport lasting about an hour and 10 minutes. We walked up past the pool and into reception where we were told our rooms were not ready yet as they had not finished cleaning. We were asked to place our cases in a corner where they would be looked after, given a wristband and sent into the restaurant for lunch.
Shortly after we were shown to our hotel rooms by a very helpful receptionist then our holiday really began....................
Food quality was excellent. The menu was predominantly Greek which the children did tend to struggle with but I spoke to the Chef who said he would try and get some more English food on offer for the Children. The taste was wide and varied and not once did we ever suffer from the dreaded holiday belly. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful and always seemed happy. One waitress in particular was always smiling to the point I even wondered if she was a good actress or not.
The pool, although very deep was amazing and you could just slide straight in without feeling cold. The kids got over the depth of the pool with inflatables and armbands and had a whale of a time. The sunbeds had to be claimed quite early as there were limited sunbeds but if you were there early enough it was not a problem. The beach was literally across the road and it was possible to leave your towels etc by the pool, nip across for a dip in the very warm sea and come back, take a quick rinse under the shower and jump into the pool....No need to pack everything and take a walk to the beach.
Evening entertainment was really good and MoMo was brilliant with the kids. Having a teenage daughter, I was a bit dubious at first but I found out his affinity with children in general was really genuine and we struck up a really good friendship with him. Almost every night at 9pm he did a kids mini disco for half an hour where he played a variety of songs (English, French, Spanish and German) and taught them to dance to a set routine to them which was fun to watch. After which, it was a bit of fun bingo, karaoke, quizzes etc which varied from evening to evening. Being a DJ myself, I sometimes gave him material to play during the day or in the evening as some of his music was a little dated with the same CDs being played but nothing I would that was detrimental. He got us playing a game of darts during the day (four rounds of darts with various rules), did water polo, aqua gym in the kiddies pool with the mums among various other things. For the amount he gets paid, he really earned his money and I could not fault him. Not once did he ever say anything improper to either of the ladies in our party or to the kids.
Suzanna and Brad behind the pool bar were brilliant and really friendly. I did have a little disagreement with Brad over a small matter but that was quickly rectified and put behind us.
The only things that I found tended to slightly spoil the holiday for me was I suffered from heatstroke one day and had to go back to the air conditioned room for a lay down (nearly 50 Celcius on this day), the wasps and the mozzies, all of which were beyond the control of the hotel and found throughout Corfu. A good repellent for the Mozzies and a well aimed size 12 at the wasps soon got on top of them. The only thing I was disappointed with was a lack of a laundry room.
Roda Village however is a 15 minute walk away and has everything you will ever need.
Leaving the hotel was the worst part of our holiday and we all felt tinges of sadness and cannot wait to return there again.

In short, if you don't like Greek food, go to Bournemouth or Minehead. If you don't like family hotels, book a private villa somewhere. If however you want a Fantastic Holiday with excellent service and VERY friendly staff, you could do much worse than come to this hotel.

All in all, it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in and we WILL return in the future.

Thanks to everyone there for making our 14 night stay in Corfu a memorable one.

We stayed there for two weeks there was four of us and we payed 4500 for all of us. Firstly we arrived we had no idea were to go as there was no meet and great when we found our way to reception we were thrown keys at us and said go upstairs to your room. Which i thought was very rude (no lifts). We were firstly in the rooms at the front of the hotel facing the pool the room was that small we actually could not pass eachother very basic it was twin single beds put together a budweiser mini fridge and an old style tv with no english channels at all. The bathroom was to small as per prev review and only half of a bath. Of a night the noise at the front of the hotel was shocking we are young but that was to much we didnt go to bed until 3am every night. The cleaners came to our door every day at 8am you go on holiday to sleep in a little but that was ridiculas. Eventually we conplained that much about the noise after the first week they moved us to the back if the hotel.
Our second room was larger and we could pass eachother this time the room looked great untill we found cockrouches in the room and a wasps nest on the balcony we were placed ontop of the cleaners room which again was so noisy. Secondly the food was discusting breakfast was cheese pancakes or rubber eggs, hot dogs and cereal. The dinner was chips, salad and spagetti bol or a diff set meal no choice. The tea was fish in pickled sauce, chip, salad and one main meal which they would swap each day desert was watermellon or ice cream every day all drinks were fizzy pop or beer or there wine or tap water. You could barely eat your dinner if out the waiters coming over asking if you have finished and stirring at you. Thirdly all staff have no manners and are very rude and love to stir the only nice staff member was brad on the bar he was very friendly and made all your drinks v.strongun like the other staff the bar drinks were mainly there own make with not much choice which closed at 11. Fourthly the entertainment, if you call screaming children dancing to german songs entertainment for four hours then thats what you get mumu the entertainer is good with children but seriously if you have any teenagers make sure you take them to bed with you and dont leave them around waiters or mumu REALLY as a lot happened with the waiters and mumu and teenagers whilst there. Also if your going as a couple or married be wary again. Fiftly the pool was very dangerous for children as it was 2.5 all the was very deep and there was a small childrens pool enough to fit 6 children max. Sixthtly around the premises there is a park which is out of order and many other safety problems all around the hotel. Also when in the restraunt we talked amongst ourselves about the hotel and then complained when we complained the person at reception had a sheet of what we had said in the restraunt so be careful. Sevently roda was awfull it had about 3 descent bars i would recommend going to acharavi or sidari for a good choice of bars rodawas a 20 min walk as was acharavi. I would reccomend going to dannys bar the next hotel on the left and use his pool nuch bigger larger childrens pool and jaccuzi as long as you buy a drink he doesnt mind. We took 2500 spends between us and used it all due to poor food and drink. If you are flying home on a monday i advise you buy the priority check in as we did it was 60 euro thank god we got it as others had to wait 2 hrs in the heat outside lining up dont bother getting seating together also. Are rep came twice in two weeks so be sure to see heras the german rep was there everyday. It is more germans than english also. Bottom line dont go this is an honest review everything i have said please take into account before you book and hopefully you will read reviews before you book as we will ensure we do next time. DONT GO.

Our family of 4 and party of 7 stayed at the Roda Garden Village for 10 days from the 17th August. After reading the reviews, and paying a very reasonable price, it's fair to say that we didn't expect a lot from the hote and if anything a little worriedl, however we were very plesantly surprised!
We had 2 appartment room at the back of the hotel block, which was huge, very clean.
Our balcony was bigger than everybody else's, which was brilliant, the bathroom was a good size.
The air conditioning was free of charge, and kept the room at a nice temperature, but, like most hotels, you couldn't have it on while sitting on the balcony or out of the room, so the room sometimes got very hot, as it took a while to kick in.
The food at the hotel was very good with a wide selection to choose from. There were normally chips or potatoes, a few greek dishes, a british dish or pasta, etc and salads, and we all found something we liked including the kids.
The pool seemed quite small at first, but it was never crowded and was often completely empty! To get a good sunbed, we suggest reserving one before 9am, because most become reserved. You can also pay 2 euros for a sunbed on the beach. The hotel is only separated from the beach by a very quiet road, so the location was very good in that respect. However, the beach is very pebbly so you have to either wear shoes or be very determined if you want to swim in the sea!
The pool bar was open all day and evening and the staff very helpful and friendly, the drinks were served in plastic cups, which was a great safety feature around the pool-side, in general, the drinks were as you would expect from a Greek 3* hotel and plentiful.
Roda is about a 15 minute walk away from the hotel, which is a lovely place to go to in the evenings or late afternoons. There are lots of sea front bars and restaurants at reasonable prices however we never found the need to visit as the food and drink was so good at the hotel,.
Overall, the hotel exceded some of our expectations, mainly because it is in a lovely area, but also because there weren't any faults. There has been criticisms about mosquitos, clearly these people have never been to greece before! We did not find this a problem, we used repelant and never got ang bites.
We would certainly return to this hotel again because we all had a great holiday overall!

Room Tip: Ask for a room and the rear of the Hotel.

Having just returned from a 10 day stay at Roda Garden Village, I feel I have to write a review after reading previous ones on here. We loved this hotel, first things first, check-in was painless and quick and we arrived on a night flight, we had requested a room at the back of the hotel which we got which was massive, separate lounge area, bathroom and bedroom and very quiet. Pool - never a problem with sunbed always some available right up till 9.30ish in a morning, it wasvery deep but again no problem to us. Food - varied and tasty at every meal always something that we would all eat and lovely desserts, and snacks were available at the pool bar at certain times. Plastic cups - standard in every hotel all inclusive I have ever been to and not a problem, bar staff day and night were brilliant and drinks were great. Entertainment - was funny but not sure if that was the intention always, but we joined in and had a great time after all its what you make of your holiday. Overall we had a great time, and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a inexpensive holiday in the sun!!

Room Tip: Request a room at the rear of hotel if possible.
