“Great place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I originally chose Le Grand Bleu based on reviews from Trip Advisor. I had read many good reviews and when I arrived in St Martin was not disappointed. We stayed in a very clean and quiet room on the second floor and while we only had a sliver of an ocean view, our large balcony offered up a private feeling. Our room was large and included a little kitchen. We shopped at the nearby convenience store and enjoyed breakfast and several other meals on our balcony. Orient Beach was a very short walk from our room and once there, we enjoyed the complementary beach chairs and umbrellas. While the beach was always busy, it also was a great place to just hang out and relax. Our hosts at Le Grand Bleu were gracious, polite, and always helpful with anything we needed. We did not rent a car while on St Martin but had no problem finding really good restaurants within walking distance. And when we chose to dine in
Grand Case, the hotel arranged our taxi. Overall, a great experience. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Third floor will give you best view.

Just returned after spending (10) days here and would absolutely recommend the place to family or friend. The managers, Gerard and his wife Delphin, could not of been more courteous and hospitable. The rooms were clean and cool and quiet. The continental breakfast was more than adequate and you could have an American one if you desired. Parking was never a problem. For the cost, this place was worth it.

Room Tip: Only the 3rd floor has a view of the water if that is important to you.

We just returned for Le Grand Bleu. After a week at our time share we extended our stay two nights on the French side. Our room was great for the price. Very clean and well appointed. We could walk minutes to a great beach. Chairs and umbrellas included. The staff excellent at the desk. Very friendly and helpful. Bring an adapter for your computer. They did have one at desk.
We will be back.

Room Tip: We were in a garden level room close to walkway to beach and restaurant. Perfect. Liked being on f...

We just got back from a week at Le Grand Bleu, and can't wait to go back! Gerard was so hospitable, it was almost like a bed and breakfast!! You are steps away from the beach and the hotel grants free chairs and umbrellas at both Waikiki and La Playa. GO TO LA PLAYA, we unfortunately chose it on the last day, spent the rest of the week at Waikiki...

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for a view!

We could copy just about any positive review about Le Grand Bleu, repost it and be accurate. We found Le Grand Bleu using TripAdvisor and were thrilled we did.

Here are the negatives. Almost no view from the room and one evening a week there is music. The way to deal with the music is to go to the party, have a drink and dance. You can't fight them so join them. As far as the lack of a view the patios and decks are nice, you see green and it is tranquil.

Okay, on to the positives. Location. Location. Location. There is a new sign so you can find it now. The hotel is about 1,000 feet from the beach. You can walk the wooden boards to the beach and don't even need sandals. There is a little village walking distance with lots of restaurants, a small grocery, and just about anything else you could need and might find in a small village. The beach is beautiful. Also, Gerard and every employee there is so nice.

So, what is the catch. We are going back. It was so nice and we liked it so much we will become regulars. I know it sounds BORING, but we really like it. I know next February my wife and I will be staying with Gerard and sunning ourselves on the beach.

Room Tip: The second and third floors are more private. You can leave the curtains open as nobody can see in...

My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Le Grand Bleu at the end of January. We will go back there. The hotel is clean and well managed. It is well located but I would highly recommend renting a car to see other parts of this beautiful island. It is not a 5 star but it has everything you need including a very helpful staff. The beach is great and there is a small village near by that has very nice restsurants.
Enjoy Le Grand Bleu, we did!
Ken

Room Tip: Try and get a room on second or third floor.

We just came back from St. Martin where we stayed three nights in room 213 on the second floor of Le Grand Bleu. We have to say we liked it very much. The staff is friendly and talk several languages, the location is very convenient, good parking availability, the beds are simply GREAT (pillows could be less bulky or high, but this is a matter of taste), rooms are very clean and have a pleasant smell when you walk in. One negative thing that we noticed was that hot water is not available at all times. I had to take a cold shower once. Also, on Saturday night we went to bed around 12:00 and weren't able to sleep until after 2:00am because of the loud music from Waikiki which is right behind. Maybe you can ask for a room farther from the music. Besides that, everything was great and we do recommend it!
