Absolutely the best. From the moment we arrived at Casa Dos Torres, my mom, aunt, cousin and I were welcomed with the utmost warmth by John, Jane, and their son Lex. Perfect little rooms with windows overlooking the garden, a lovely pool area, plenty of room to hang out with other guests (we were lucky enough be there when their longtime friends were visiting from the UK and spent quite a bit of time exchanging stories with them) or just hide away with a book for a few hours. We came back from our first dinner in the village to an animated group of guests and hosts sharing bottles of wine and gin and tonics. They insisted we join them, and poured us all glasses without even a thought to whether we'd pay them for it. A 10 minute walk to the beach - far enough away not to feel bombarded, but close enough to just run down to the store. There's a fridge for the guests to use if they want to keep items cold. The breakfasts were just amazing in their quality and range. Jane sat down on our first afternoon there and (after providing a super-helpful map) helped us plan our next day's excursion into the surrounding countryside - ending a fabulous trip to Dali's wife's castle with an amazing tapas lunch under tall trees by an old church. John was even nice enough to drop us in a village several miles away so that we could hike the shoreline back to Calella de Palafrugell one day. To top it all off, he even shipped a left-behind item back to my aunt in the States. THE BEST!
This is the kind of place you plan your vacation around. I hope I am lucky enough to find myself in Catalonia again in the future and if I do, I know where I'll be staying! Thanks John, Jane, and Lex for a great three-night stay. I wish it could have been a week.
