We are expirienced travelers in South East Asia wih children aged 7 and 5. It was our second visit to Cabilao and Polaris. It is three years since last time.
The diving here is exceptional, even better than we remembered. Together with Dauin, this is the best we had in the Philippines. It is varied. The best part is the macro diving, seeing creatures on every dive you only see on few other spots in the world, ie Lembeh Strait. It is very easily accessible here and concentrateted on a few dive sites only some hundred meters from the resorts. It is both walls and slopes, varied with prestine corals and sandy and seaweed bottoms. The dive guide Alan is very knowledgable, and do the guiding in the best way. The dive shop is well mantained. Snorkeling is also very easy here. The beach is white, but there are corals in the water, so you must wear shoes to swim here. They also have quite a big, well maintained pool.
The resort was much the same as three years ago. We the appreciated it much, so we do this time. Comfortable room and beds, even hot water, which is not commen (and actually not really needed) out on the islands. The restaurant serves very good and plentiful food, of course a bit pricy, being on an island without any other options. The waitresses speak very good english and do a very good job.
This time on Cabilao turned out to be very special since we had an easthquake of 7,2 with many afters shocks. The personell on the resort and in the dive shop handled it very well, even though they were very frightened. They have never before expirienced such an earth quake, its epicenter being on nearby Bohol.
We love this resort and this island. We really recommend it. We will come back some day.
