I have skied for many years at this resort but after a break of a few years spent a week here in February. Since my last visit they have installed a new barrier scanning system, your card should be kept in a pocket or in a special sleeve insert. It is a total catastrophe. In the whole week I was there nearly every ski lift had if not one, two of these gates out of action which meant even during the week there were cues at the lifts with many young skiers still having problems with the scanning systems registering automatically, it was so painful to watch! By the weekend when La Molina is heaving still no attempt had been made to fix the out of action gates which they put metal barriers across which just hinder skiers access to the other gates. La Molina has died a death in the last few years, the Burger King has even shut down. If you are staying up the mountain there are very few places to go and some of the restaurants if they are open are very pricey. Currently with the prices of the operating hotels, restaurants, lift pass fees etc. its probably cheaper to go skiing in the US for week. Unless you are a day or weekend skier up from BCN La Molina is no longer a tempting ski resort!
