“Nice hotel and pools, terrible service and food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

It is really hard to rate this hotel since some things are great and some are horrible.
The rooms in the new wing are beautiful: spacious, clean, with great bathrooms and big balconies.
The pools are also great: you can choose between indoor and outdoor, deep and shallow, warm and cool, big and small - there's something for everyone. You can literally spend hours in water and have fun.

The service, however, is atrocious and the food is worse.
The main feature of this hotel are its pools, but the guests do not get pool towels or bathrobes in their rooms. You cannot get them at the entrance to the pools, you have to specifically ask for them at the reception and then they get delivered to your room (although the hotel rules forbid you to take room towels to the pool - terribly confusing).
The staff at the bar seem unable to handle more than 5 orders at a time. When 50 or so guests headed to the bar after a conference, the waitress seemed mortified. It took us 10 min to order and then another 10 min to get a coffee. And even then we got it because we brought dirty cups from a nearby table so that the waitress could wash them and fill them with fresh coffee.
In the lounge bar, the waiter was eating an apple while taking orders and bringing drinks.
In the dining room, the staff were unable to clean the shards of one broken glass the whole evening.
And these are just a few examples. The staff simply seem incompetent and indifferent.

The food, however, is even worse than the service. It is not fit for a 4-star hotel. Most of it is greasy, starchy, overcooked and oversalted. There is nothing light, seasonal, local or exciting on the menu. The breakfast selection is poor, including rubbery scrambled eggs, cheapest salami and cheeses possible and dry, sugary pastries. The dinner mostly consists of heavy meats and bland side dishes, such as potatoes, rice and tasteless steamed vegetables. Only the salad bar is half-decent.

I suppose the hotel is great if you want to visit the pools, but do not expect good service and do not eat there.

I stayed in hotel for a conference. Hotel is very nice especially new wing, but when I asked for drink in conference caffe it took half an hour before I got one. First I thought it is not a rule, but again in the morning it happened again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We visited for the day (actually one day after the another as I loved it so much!) to take the waters.

There are various pools, all with different elements. The big pool has various water jets, bubble jets, mini waterfalls (where you sit under to massage your neck and upper back), outside part of that big pool where you swim under some plastic curtains. Outside also has jets and bubble beds. There is quite a large pool which is very warm indeed, lovely to wallow in. Also a big jacuzzi, however the jets weren't working when we were there. There are 2 other big pools, one Olympic sized, and one same shape, but smaller (and maybe shallower).

The sauna world upstairs (separate charge - depending on how long you want to spend there - 3 hours, or a full day - it costs from 11-14 euros) is AWESOME!! Absolutely incredible. Why not we have such places in England? I mean, we have spas, however, at most 1-2 saunas and 1 steam room. This place had around 18 different things to do, saunas, steam rooms, lanconium, jacuzzi, cold/hot walking pool (kniepp) to aid circulation, 4 different relax areas including water beds, an area with hammock type beds, like a lounger on 4 ropes attached at the top at the ceiling, where you can relax by rocking your 'hammock', other relax areas, salt steam room, cold pool, chromeotherapy sauna, bio ionising sauna, extreme sauna, mud sauna, ice pit.

As well as an extensive massage and treatment menu, there are also treatments that you can do in the saunas/steam rooms, such as face masks, body masks, mud treatment, exfoliation etc. such as chocolate, chocolate and mint, honey and milk, grape and more. I chose the 'grape programme' where they give you a cup with the face mask in, you enter the bio ionisation sauna and put it on your face. They were so generous with it, I ended up having a body mask! You sit with it on for around 15 minutes and then wash it off. Divine! These extras are very reasonably priced, from 20-30 kuna (around 2.70-4 euros). They also do free programmes. When I was there they had 2 on. One in the chromeotherapy sauna, where they put aromatherapy oil onto the sauna stove, and wave it around with a towel. This got quite hot, so the guy doing it gave us ice to spread over our bodies, but I have to admit, I didn't go the distance, and left before it finished. There is also a salt programme in the salt steam room You can go into this steam room at any time and exfoliate with the huge bowl of salt, but at 1pm every day, guy comes in and places a smaller container with salt and some type of oil in it. This feels much less drying than salt alone, and my skin was baby soft afterwards!

Downstairs at the pools, it can get quite loud,,especially if its a public holiday, with lots of kids, but upstairs is completely the opposite. People rarely talk, and if they do, its in hushed tones. Its all very zen like, and very posh indeed, very modern, spotless and candles everywhere, very romantic!

There is also a cafe upstairs, that serves coffee, many different types of wellness tea, and healthy food.

Swimming costumes aren't allowed upstairs (like in practically all European saunas) but you get what they call a sheet, to wrap yourself with. Some saunas dictate that you must cover up with the sheet (like the lanconium) but others, its up to you. Most people kept covered up, and some just sat on it. You can choose Either way. Jacuzzis (and steam rooms), naked. In the relax areas, everyone stayed covered.

So, a GREAT experience! Wish I lived closer! As I said, we have NOTHING like this in England!

The spring water pools are the main attraction, you get free unlimited access to all of the pools and gym. The rooms are small, but equipped. Service is good, breakfast is rich. It's rather far from anything else though, shops are quite far and works till 10pm. But the nature surrounding is great.

I staid here with group of 120 people, adults and children. The accomodation was excellent and the swimming facilities superb. The excellent spa and sauna area are also to be recommended. Staff are friendly and helpful

We stayed in hotel WELL for 3 nights with two kids in the old part of the hotel. Our room (double bed and one single bed for a 11 years old child) was really too small for a 4 people but we did not spend too much time in the room. Food was good, with a lot of choice especially for children. Staff was very polite and helpfull. Pools are very clean and adapted to all generations although water in the pool for small children was a little bit cold and it is situated in the dark part of the complex. Fitness was not in function unfortunatelly due to some water in the roof. If you have your own car and time, I recommend you to visit vilages near Tuhelj (Kumrovec, Veliki Tabor castel) and museum in Krapina. Nature is really beautifull.

Room Tip: Choose rooms in the new part of the hotel. It is little bit more expensive, but....

On the surface this is a great place. it looks modern, clean and sleek. What I found, unfortunately, is that this only went skin deep. When things went wrong, nothing was able to be done.

I was here for a conference of 150+ people. The conference rooms were very nice, but with this many people, they became very hot (e.g. 25-28 degrees). There was no air conditioning or ventilation due to the time of year and the AC "not being on yet". I took a shower a couple times a day due to sweat and I'm a small guy at 74k.

The rooms, due to the AC being "off" were hot as well. I opened the window at night only to wake up to mosquitoes (about 100 of them) in my room all looking for a free meal (me). This unfortunately ruined an otherwise good sleep - and it occurred several times. Finally I quit and shut the window and to deal with the room at a 24 degrees - which is a bit hot for a big comforter.

The people are nice but language can be a problem sometimes. The local area is gorgeous. The pools are OK - loud and hot - so if you like that sort of thing you won't have an issue.

I don't think you'll be disappointed here, and you can't beat the rates. It was just not above average for me.
