“The restaurant at Lower Slaughter Manor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

It was our 38th Wedding Anniversary so we pushed the boat out and chose the taster menu. This comprised seven courses with coffee or tea afterwards. Every course was absolutely delicious, delightfully presented and served perfectly by the couteous and pleasant waiters. We have eaten in some lovely restaurants but we finished our meal in complete agreement that this was the best meal we have ever had. We can totally recommend Lower Slaughter Manor if you are celebrating a special occasion or even if you aren't!

This beautiful country house hotel is set in the picture-postcard Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter. We stayed on a Saturday night as a birthday treat. The hotel and the surround countryside made for a perfect weekend. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the manager and were delighted to discover we had been treated to a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful suite in the Separate "Coach House" building. We found a huge luxuriously appointed room with a bathroom to match in every respect. We also enjoyed a first class dinner in the hotel's restaurant. We could believe the chef is a contender for a Michelin star. We also enjoyed breakfast, cooked and served to absolute perfection. We felt the hotel gets its approach to service exactly right. Friendly and efficient without being over-attentive.

We'd be happy to recommend this hotel to others and may well return ourselves at some future date.

Stayed here for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We stayed in deluxe room Charlotte - a lovely room on the top floor , very private with its own entrance hall . Large room , light and airy with neutral decor with accents of navy blue. Very large and comfortable bed , 2 windows , one a fire escape , the other with views to the back garden and the fields beyond, complimentary sherry , bottled water and fruit . Very spacious bathroom . No tea making facilities , however complimentary morning tea and newspaper will be brought to you in the morning on request.

We had pre dinner drinks in one of the cosy lounges and were given a plate of delicious canapes. Dinner itself was superb , Michelin star quality - the dining room is beautifully decorated and the service was very professional. We had coffee back in the lounge with home made petit fours .

Perfect cooked breakfast the following morning . All the staff in the hotel were very friendly , helpful and efficient .

Lower Slaughter is a very small , picturesque village .For shopping , Stow on the Wold is just a few minutes drive away.

There really was nothing we could fault during our brief stay , so if you want a romantic , relaxing break with excellent food ....... book Lower Slaughter Manor !

We chose LSM for our wedding reception, opting for the exclusive use package. We were thrilled with the result. The staff were an absolute joy. Jane and her events team could not do enough both in the preparation stage and on the day itself. We really cannot thank them enough. First rate.

Myself and my wife and baby son have just returned from a fantastic three night stay at Lower Slaughter Manor. There is so much that is excellent about this hotel ranging from the decor to the location, the food to the overall ambience, however what really stood out for us was the level of service that we received throughout our stay. Every single member of staff that we met was helpful, courteous, approachable and most importantly keen to ensure that we got the most out of our stay: hotel chain chief execs across the UK could do with spending an afternoon at Lower Slaughter to see how it's done. This really is an absolute gem of a hotel.

We stayed on a two night dinner, bed and breakfast deal. The manager Mark Godfrey was very welcoming and on hand to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was very well equipped and tastefully furnished. The dinner menu was well balanced and the food was exceptional, certainly Michelin star quality. The new management still has to address the gardens which surround the property but overall we had a very enjoyable stay which was good value for money.
