“A gem of a B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

A warm welcome and a comfortable stay in this beautiful old house. Caroline is full of useful tips on what to see and where to eat etc., invaluable advice. The room and food were first class.
Excellent location to explore the whole Wye valley, Forest of Dean and beyond, with the attractive town of Ross only 10 minutes away.
There is a lot more to see and do in this area than at first it seems.
Plenty of historical sites and outdoors-type activities. Loads of walking along the river or in the forest.
An abundance of good restaurants, bistros, pubs, etc to suit all tastes.

How lucky I am that the Rugby League World Cup brought you in my direction to do a bit of exploring. So glad you were impressed and hope you come back soon to see some more.

This is a very attractive old building conveniently located on the A40 with easy access to a myriad of paces to see and things to do in the beautiful county of Herefordshire.

The accommodation and the food were excellent. The room we stayed in was more like a bedroom in someone's house rather than the traditional soulless B&B room. Tastefully decorated, with a very large comfy bed, TV, tea/coffee making facilities and en-suite bathroom with shower. The breakfast menu offers a wide selection that caters for all tastes and the food itself is well presented well cooked with good quality ingredients used. We also had dinner in one evening and were not disappointed - again the quality, presentation and taste were superb. Caroline is an excellent host who makes her guests very welcome.

We travel widely both in the UK and abroad and Lea House is high up on my list of places to be recommended.

We have stayed a number of times at Lea House with our dogs and always love the warm welcome and excellent hospitality that we receive from Caroline, Jelly and the cats! With excellent home cooked breakfasts and superb walks on the door step it is a great base for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Definitely a B&B to recommend.

My wife and I stayed at Lea House for 2 nights from 13 September 2013. Caroline had kindly arranged for us to be met at the property at 12 noon by one of her neighbours as she was out and this meant that we could enjoy a lovely afternoon in Ross-on-Wye where we had a guided 2 hour walk with a local lady who was very interesting. The breakfasts were excellent and, as has been said in other reviews, Caroline was extremely helpful in suggesting things to do and we had a most enjoyable Saturday visiting Goodrich Castle and Tintern Abbey followed by a walk in the Forest of Dean. This was our first visit to the area and it is certainly beautiful. We can highly recommend Lea House as a place to stay to anyone visiting the Wye Valley or the Forest of Dean.

Room Tip: We stayed in an ensuite room called the hayloft which was large and airy with nice views of the gard...

What lovely guests to come home to from my week in Provence! I am only so sorry that I couldn't bring the hot French sunshine with me and you had to leave earlier than you wanted, to get home before the predicted storms! We will try to make sure it is sunny for your next visit.

We stayed at Lea House last weekend whilst attending a wedding in the village. The house is beautiful and full of charm and Caroline was very accomodating. The bed was really comfy and felt very silky which was much appreciated after a days dancing! Breakfast was great there was lots of choice and I was lucky to be treated to a few double yolkers! I would definitely recommend the scrambled egg. Being at wedding events all weekend meant we were back in at unsociable hours but this was no problem at all and we didnt feel like this was causing annoyance as we have been made to feel at other establishments. All in all it was a great relaxing weekend and Caroline was a great host - even providing me with a route for a morning run.

I am glad Lea House worked well in with all your wedding commitments. I always try not to let guests feel their needs cause any problem - just arrange it so it works for us all. It was a pleasure having you to stay. Perhaps you will find another reason to visit the area - come and have a relaxing break next time!

Having experienced Caroline's expert organisation , friendly welcome and splendid breakfasts we extended our stay from 3 to 5 days. Even then every day was full of interesting things to do on Caroline's expert recommendation , her knowledge of the area is second to none. The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean is definitely worth a visit.

Room Tip: Nothing to add. Caroline has thought of everything- even a different tea pot every day!

And you didn't mention your long bike rides which I gather were much enjoyed. Many thanks for your kind words about your stay. Come back soon and maybe see the Fall colours?
