We have just got back from an 11 night stay at the Playa Real - My son-in-law booked this hotel - after reading several of the reviews - I was a bit apprehensive - but I need not have worried - we had a brilliant time - I had read that the staff were quite rude - well wrong - they were all very pleasant - and always helpfull - in fact all the staff throughout the hotel were great. Like all of Spain they always serve there red wine chilled - My hubby likes his warmish - so we would put it in the microwave for a few seconds - the restaurant staff found this very amusing!!
Every where was very clean - the rooms although basic - had every thing you needed - fridge - aircon - hairdryer - toiletries etc.
They do not supply beach towels - but for a returnable deposit of 10 euro's you could hire them - and change them when ever you wanted for a clean one.
The bus stops out side the hotel - and is 1.65 to go into Ibiza town - or you can get a ferry across the harbour - it is walkable and takes about 40 minutes - all very pleasant.
Will I go back - definately - perfect location - perfect 3 star - perfect holiday!!

Stayed for 10 days in September, all-inclusive, with a sea-facing room (although i think you'd be hard pushed not to be sea-facing as most of the rooms appear to have at least a partial view of the sea!)

The rooms were relatively basic, but spotless and cleaned every day. Staff were friendly and helpful.

All-inclusive option was fantastic and I'd definitely recommend it, just for the drinks - it's a brilliant way to save money before you head out to the big clubs on the island.

Location was perfect, best of both worlds: a relatively quiet area, directly on Talamanca beach (in my opinion, probably the nicest section of the beach, too) but also just a short walk into Ibiza town (about 30 mins walking, 5 by taxi, or you can catch the shuttle boat from the harbour).

Food was OK, but as you'd expect from an all-inclusive option, a little bit repetitive. But we weren't staying here for the food! (Rather it was just a nice option to have on those hangover days where you couldn't make it out to a restaurant!)

Would definitely recommend this hotel. You get exactly what you pay for within this price bracket and star rating. It's not luxury, but it definitely surpassed my expectations of what a low to mid-price hotel could offer. Will be back in 2013!

me and my partner when to hotel playa real for a week away, we booked all inclusive and i have to say it was the best decision we made the food was fantastic so much to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the bar were equally as good they were not shy when pouring to a vodka and coke let me tell you, but the were plenty of drink to choose from if you did not want a alcoholic one, the room was good value for money very tidy and the room cleaning service was good, bathroom was excellent, overall i have to say this was a most enjoyable hotel to stay in, we did not leave the grounds for the whole week as there is load to do during the day, eg water polo, table tennis, dart, and many many more, but i have to say a big thanks to carlos, mariela, and kuba for making the week really good they put a brilliant show on every evening

we will definitely be staying again, but i would advise you go all inclusive because when you leave the hotel it get expensive at local bars,

Have just returned from the Playa Real in Talamanca. Was very wary as to where we were going to stay after reading several negative responses on TA. So, we went with an open mind and low expectations. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival, reception were fast, friendly and efficient in checking us in, immediately placing our all inclusive bands on. Having a quick look around the reception area, everything appeared clean and fresh, the hotel had a generally laid back feel to it, which we can say we were very pleased about, we didn't want grand or stuffiness. On arriving at our room (340) the air con worked sufficiently, the view over the pool and the harbour was stunning and the room was clean and tidy, (we never put the tv on so cant comment on how many chanels there were). We quickly unpacked and went to reception to place our 20euro deposit on beach/pool towels and headed out to the swimming pool. The music was typically ibiza, the sun was shining and there was an abundance of beds (3.00pm).

Regarding the plastic cups around the pool, what a great idea, it prevented any broken glass accidents, and clientelle managed to place their empties in the bins provided, so a very clean environment. The bar staff were pleasant enough, I can only imagine that they must be run off their feet in peak season. It was pleasantly breezy as the beach is directly in front of the hotel, I'm a beach person, but didn't feel the need to sit on it as the pool was not noisy or crowded.

The food in the buffet area was ok, there was something for everybody, the salads were plentiful with many different options of hot food too. Yes you had to queue for your own drinks (big deal), we did ask for a bottle of cava and staff were happy enough to oblige and give us different glasses too. Breakfast was fresh with lovely breads, fruit, cakes, pastries, cereals and a hot option too, again drinks were self service, but we didn't find that a problem.

Evenings were fairly relaxed and there was events going on, we didn't get involved as we were more than happy to have a lovely stroll along the boardwalk, stopping at one or two of the several bars along the walk to the marina, which by the way is spectactular, with lovely restaurants and shops alike.

One evening we stopped and had a bottle of wine and calamari at flotante, which was really nice, we sat and threw bread to the fish who swam very close, it had a very spanish feel to the area and not at all touristy, which added to the ambience of being away.

The bus to ibiza town runs from outside the hotel every hour and is only 1.65 euro to get to the main port in ibiza town. We had a great day walking around the fantastic shops and the hundreds of bars/restaurants. We sat and had lunch and people watched which appears to be a favourite pastime in Ibiza.

The hotel itself is in a fairly quiet location, but everywhere is walkable. There is a supermarket about 50 metres along the road by the Simbad, which I may add was another hotel we viewed to stay in, it looked lovely but we wasn't prepared to pay far more when the Playa Real satisfied our needs.

As regards the safety element, there are signs placed all over the hotel advising people to beware of their belongings. Yes the looky looky men enter into the hotel, but a polite no thanks to them and there was no bother. We are always careful of our belongings whether at home or away and we felt as safe in Ibiza as we had done in other areas, although remained aware that there could always been an opportunist around.

Our overall stay was good, we enjoyed being chilled out, we went with the intention of doing nothing and actually achieved our goal. The hotel was our ideal place to stay, relaxed and easy going. Yes its a 3 star, when we booked it we was aware that it was a 3 star, and have no complaints whatsoever about any staff, food issues, cleanliness issues or anything.

Would we return, possibly yes if we were after this kind of break again. Would we recommend, yes we would.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms have excellent sea views

This is my second stay at Playa Real. In general, so long as you're not looking for anywhere too upmarket, it is a good basic hotel. My advice would be ask for a room on the third floor, we got a room this year on the first floor and I have to say it smelt really damp, luckily enough they were able to move us. Rooms are kept well clean, the pool is nice and the beach is just a few steps away. Breakfast was good. Talamanca is a good resort, there are a few good places to eat nerby (try Sa Punta, pricey but amazing!).

Room Tip: third floor to the west hand side of the hotel - avoid first floor and rooms by the lift lobby!

This is the 3rd year my wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Playa Real in Talamanca, near ibiza town. We spent 12 nights there this year and just got back today. Overall this is an excellent value hotel in a beautiful part of the island, and an excellent base either for a relaxing break or a clubby one! We have went all inclusive every year we have stayed as this provides the best value for money. Food wise, breakfast, lunch and dinner are very similar but there is a wide variety of food on offer, from an excellent fresh salad bar to some pasta dishes, stews, local dishes etc. Simple good food, nothing too fancy! Bar snacks of cheese and ham toasties are available during the day, and the drinks available in all inclusive are pretty good too, from Cava and other wines to local beer and spirits. The hotel itself is very clean, with lovely grounds and is located right beside a beautiful beach. The rooms are clean, decent sized, with clean bathrooms. One minor gripe I could have had this year was that we stayed in room 2, and the choice of 3 TV channels was poor with none in English when in previous years the TV selection was a lot better. Anyway, my wife and I often stayed in the hotel before going out. All inclusive bar service is till 11pm, so after that it's a taxi to the beautiful Ibiza town (8 euro), Amnesia or Privelige (16 euro), Pacha (6 euro - though Pacha is walk able from the hotel) or to San Antonio (25 euros). The hotel is mainly european so it is quiet during the day though i noticed a few improvements this year in that the pool which was freezing in our first two visits was a lot better and actually swimmable in this year! There was also a masseuse on site now near the beach, with water polo and a few games ran by the friendly entertainment staff. We never really saw any shows so cant comment on them, but all in all it's an excellently located 3 star hotel, with very nice staff and I just can't wait to book again for next year!
