“Reception staff need customer service training”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here for a week at the end of September. The hotel itself is lovely, very modern rooms and spotless! Peaceful location but close to Ibiza Town. Breakfast fine, the usual hotel buffet. The reception staff are the letdown..ill mannered and downright rude! The only guests that seemed to get courteous service were germans.

We have been to this Hotel many times over the years so we can give a balanced review. The location is lovely. They have given the rooms a serious make over which although a bit White do look clean and the bathroom is very efficient. So why spend all this money on improving the hotel and allow the food quality to deteriorate so very much. We used to look forward to sitting in the dining room looking over the bay enjoying dinner but oh dear not now!! The main attraction of the location of the hotel is that it is directly on the beach. Now however for some reason they have not cleared the seaweed from the beach at all and you have to negotiate about 1ft. high wall of seaweed to have a paddle or swim. The staff seem to stay and are all efficient and help where they can.

From the first arrival to our departure we were very impressed by the standards of this hotel. All of the staff from reception, through all the restaurant and bar staff to the room cleaners were friendly, helpful, caring and very professional. The allocated room was not available on our arrival so we were given a more convenient and suitable room. The room was spotlessly clean and was kept that way throughout our stay, towels and linen were changed every day. Breakfast was perfectly satisfying with many hot and cold choices, it was a typical Spanish breakfast buffet. The drinks service and the pool staff gave splendid service. There were plenty of loungers available and the towel situation worked very well. The location for us was perfect with small bars and restaurants easily accessible from the hotel. All in all a very good hotel which deserves to be praised for making our holiday most enjoyable. We went with Thomsons and were very disappointed with the lack of service and attention from their resort staff so that was one of the only downsides, the other I regret to say involved some of the other guests who were less than friendly and co-operative but that wasn't the fault of the Argos

Room Tip: We enjoyed the room on the lower floor (-1)

Hotel Argos has gone through a major renovation. All the rooms have been done in a white theme and it has made this hotel better than ever. Ibiza is a very unique place and it has different areas. Some are very noisy and some are more quiet. The Argos is on Talamanca beach, right across the bay from Ibiza town. I have stayed here many times over the past few years and Catalina and her crew do a great job. We like the Argo because we can walk to Marina Botafoch and get dinner or take the ferry over to Ibiza town and avoid the parking fiasco. The Argos has free internet, but it is tough to get it in your room. But, the lobby downstairs has a lot of table and chairs to work at.

I chose Argos for a 4 day holiday break with my 18 year old daughter. I wanted something which would provide good value as it is quite expensive to eat out etc in Ibiza. I was persuaded by the reviews which complimented the location. The hotel is as described, set in a peaceful beautiful spot overlooking a bay and beach, and close to Ibiza town.It was relaxing to spend some days quietly on the beach and there are next door by bars and restaurants to have lunch . There are two pools and suitable for families. There is also an indoor pool facility and gym which my daughter enjoyed using.
A sea boat taxi service only takes 10 minutes to get to Ibiza town and cost 2.4 euros.Taxis were cheap and only cost 6 euros to Ibiza town and a bit more to some other parts of the Island
The staff were obliging regarding booking restaurants and came up with alternatives when fist choice was fully booked. The breakfast was fine.
The hotel is clean, if a little outdated in the main parts . It is newly decorated in terms of the bedrooms and good bathrooms. Some things were overlooked- as two ladies travelling, we needed to use hairdryers at the same time. It was frustrating that the only electric socket in the bedroom was set to far away from the mirror on the wardrobe.
We spent one cold night, with just a sheet and a cover on our beds and had to request that we have blankets, which was attended to the following day. It would have been more sensible to have blankets in the room for guest to use as needed. The mattresses on our beds were a little hard for our tastes. In all it suited our needs perfectly . It would not be so suitable for a romantic getaway as I would like a little more luxury at hand.

Room Tip: Sea vview is worth having

Overall enjoyable experience at this hotel. Although it is an old hotel it has been recently updated. Very modern rooms and breakfast standard buffet. A taxi rank is just around the corner and it is close to Pacha nightclub, €5 taxi ride. The beach is in the corner of the bay so it gets a lot of seaweed and you really can't swim there. Just walk 50m and the beach is better. It is also close to the marina and restaurants and a small supermarket just around the corner. Overall service good, breakfast crew very friendly and helpful and bar staff also very good. Now the only thing that lets this place down is some of the reception staff. They didn't explain breakfast times, where it was and lacked a smile, the usual standard service you expect was not there. If they improved this I would not hesitate in going back.

Just returned from Ibiza with my gf. We stayed 5 nights. Nice, renovated, clean rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is not a party hotel which helps when you just want to rest. Right on the beach, nice restaurants nearby( El Pulpo, Hostal Talamanca), plus a taxi stand nearby. We definitely would return.

Room Tip: Spend the extra and get a seaside room.
