We went to this place on the advice of a friend in Shanghai whom got advice from a freind in japan. It really was a great experience and honestly one of the best meals i have ever had in my life. Thats coming from an 18 year restauranteur! The food was awesome and the standout experience from our trip, i asked them to select their favourites as well as some sake which tasted so fresh and good as of course did the draft beer. After i had finished struggling how to sit properly i managed to find a comfy position. We were given some tasty sashimi, some interesting salad with mustard mayo and wasabi dressing as well as a tasty melt in your mouth japanese Kobe style beef dish. Another minced beef and cabbage dish was also very memorable and came with a wrapped dreid and soaked gourd string (very interesting). The chef came out at the end to show my wife his vintage clothing album and a very rare 1930's Levi's leather jacket which was beautiful. Super nice guy who normally counter cooks or gets invited to travel the world to cook. He cooks and interacts in front of his guests who seemed to be largely local foreigners or partly Japanese guests. The staff were also freindly and willing and the lady manager in particular was very friendly and spoke good english. If we do go back to Japan soon we will sure to be back. This place deserves more reviews and to think its been open 10 years next month?!? Thats japan for you, so understated and such a lack of sensationalism compared to the US or UK when it comes to celeb chefs etc...It was full when we went and we could see why, although it is a small place. By the way check out the funky toilet posters out whilst there! Another tip would be that its best to ask the taxi driver to use the tracking device as its hard to find, but close to shibuya and could be walked for the adventurous types!
