“Cheapest place in town!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

Is it big, is it flashy, is it special? No. Is it cheap? Yes!

If you are looking for a cheap place to crash this is the place to be in Tokyo. Considering the price (less then 20 euroes for a single) it is great value.

Very well served by public transport (both underground and city train), very international, easy to meet nice people from europe or u.s.a. to bunch up and spend some time together when you don't have other plans. Cheap, though toilets are not always as clean as you wish.

When we got off the minami-shinjo station we made the wrong turn at the entrance, and it took us like 35 min. to find the hostel, but when we finally got the directions correct, it eventually took like 7 minutes from the hostel to the station.

The rooms.... were very small. If you are claustrophobic, please don't force yourself in here, there were two windows in our room, a TV and small locker for our clothes, and that's it. We stayed in a tatami room, at first I was worried that the hard floor would hurt my back or neck, but it was actually the best sleep I've had for a while(maybe because I was tired).

The showers were like super powered, I hate those hotels that tries to save money by reducing the water pressure and temperature. I loved the showers here, eventho they were only on the first floor. But i take showers at night, so I didn't have to wait for them.

Only one computer to use for everyone, only one phone to use...and this girl...I could swear she was on that phone 24/7 calling to her home country. It's like why don't you get out and do stuff? Good thing I didn't need to use the phone.

Most of all, it was cheap, like ~= $50 for two person a night. In Tokyo? that's incredible.

It was well worth the money for this type of acomodation! The staff was among the best I've encountered and the service was totaly ok. Not expensive, good service and the location was good. Close to the subway and both a nice bakery and a superstore + severeal 7/11's close by!

Bearable... Rooms are like 3x1x2 boxes but clean enough to survive... Basic facilities (wash-machine, dryer, internet, vending machines) are available. The only thing is that one shouldn't leave things unattended outside the room. My towel was stolen being forgotten for 5 min in the shower room.

Didn't know what to expect from this place (very mixed reviews) but it turned out to be fine. Sure the doors are a little rusty, but I mean for the amount you are paying (4800 yen for a double) it's pretty good. Like most places in Japan, it's clean. It's got free internet, but there is usually someone using it. It seems to draw a very mixed crowd, but everyone is friendly. Has decently-priced washing machines and front desk all speak english quite well (especially Bobby). Kitchen isn't amazing, but there is a mini fridge available and a microwave and a toaster. But the price make it a bargain.
