“Clean and simple hotel. Worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

A clean and value for money hotel. You can save 300 yen by opting not to clean the room (only change of towels) which is fine if you don't mess up the room.
It is a bit far from the Shinjuku station if you are carrying huge luggage but is smack in the red light district which is safe to walk alone late at night.
Breakfast is simple and not fantastic fare but since it is free, why not. Usually japanese hotels don't provide breakfast.

Having stayed at the kabuki-cho location a few times i knew exactly what to expect, first off if your arriving into shinjuku by train or bus the hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the main station. Make sure you have a map printed out beforehand, if travelling in a small group with luggage i recommend you get a taxi from the station and just show the drive the map.

Onto the hotel, as others have said it is in the red light district but don't let this put you off as unless your looking for that type of entertainment you wont even notice. The hotel lobby has a new storage room for luggage and they will hold them for a few days if your taking a short side trip away from tokyo. Some staff speak english, and the ones that do seem to have been there for years, but remember this is a business hotel and services are limited. Breakfast is served between 7-9am in a small section just off the lobby - it's plain but ok as it's free.

Rooms are small but functional and are cleaned daily - unless you request for them not to be. Internet is provided free of charge via a network jack, and wifi is available in the lobby / resturant area. The bathrooms are very small but come with everything you need.

People complain over the size of the rooms, but you probably wont spend that much time in the hotel anyway so i don't see the fuss? Why spend double the fee for a hotel that you will only sleep in???

Room Tip: hotel tip - if you dont decline the room cleaning you won't be able to access your room again ti...

Location was perfect for shopping and exploring Tokyo. Sure rooms are small, but so are most rooms in Japan and for the money you are paying, you are getting very cleans rooms and a decent place to sleep as well as basic brekky. You do have to store your luggage upright to be able to move around comfortably. Most of the staff speak limited english but they are very accomodating and try their best to assist. If you are the type of traveller that is going to be out exploring all day and not spending all their time in their hotel room, then this place will definitely suit your needs.

The service is so bad it spoils your day! If you are stating at this god damn place! Give up trying to seek help from the ill mannered staff... Asking for directions she shrug... Wifi, she shrugs too... The only question she answered is when you asked for your room keys!
If you do not know Japanese language, hotel staff plays a important role where she will recommend interesting places to
Visit, which is what I did for the rest o my stay where I get to visit beautiful places!
The breakfast is like dog food... Not worth looking forward to... Overall is a lousy hotel with lousy staff and lousy location... And the stupid red light district where you might be looking forward to is dependent to which room you stay so as to catch a glimpse... Please! Stay in this hell place only if you have no other choice!!!

The rooms are small; there is little storage space to hang-up a lot of clothes, but having said that, it is possible to store suitcases under the bed. Each room is equipped with a fridge, bath, wc and shower and wifi. The rooms are clean and functional. Despite the hotel being situated in a busy part of Tokyo which lives 24/7, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Breakfast is included in the price and the hotel is equipped with washers and dryers to do your own laundry as well as plenty of vending machines. The hotel is mainly used by Japanese, so you won't find yourself stuck with a bunch of tourists.

Our room with a double bed was small until my partner and I got in the way of each other. Luckily, the room and the attached toilet was clean. There was nothing much about the breakfast. It was just some rice balls and bread. Despite this, we were satisfied with Toyoko Inn Shinjuku as it met our basic needs without busting our wallets.
