“Directly behind the Best Western Astina Hotel in Shinjuku”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

If you're a night owl, this place is for you. The narrow streets of Golden Gai and its neighborhood ambience make it truly unique in Tokyo.

“The pulse of Shinjuku”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

You'll inevitably end up here on a typical night visit to Shinjuku, where you'll then end up spending a few hours and leave much more light-headed and relaxed than before.

“Real Old World Charm in a Neon metropolis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

I would highly recommend a visit to this area while in Tokyo. You feel like you are in a totally different city once you step into the Golden Gai. Small old charming buildings filled with great character. A very quiet neighbourhood at first glance but with a buzzing an amazing mix of personalities. We spent a night drinking sake with the locals and having very entertaining broken English conversations!

“Love it here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

One of my top recommendations for any visit to Tokyo. Visit a couple izakayas, my favorite so far has been the bar with the Pink Floyd cover above the door.

“Fascinating area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Amazing what you can build when town planners do not get involved. Great variety of tiny bars but do check the table charge before going in.
