“Tricky sales - bad customer care”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We visited Japan on a 25 days trip and visited the Ueno branch of the store to ask for a prepaid SIM card that we could use during the trip. They recommended as a B-mobile card that they did not activate for us as the company phone was out of business times that day.
Afterwards we just found out that as visitors it was impossible to activate the card. You need a Japanese permanent address, and a Japanese translator to go through the web page, as well as some other data. Further than that, they even sold us and LTE card for a 3G mobile.
We return to the store and asked for a refund, but they told us that the card was open so they could not do it. Even when the card had not been activated. Even when they sold it to us knowing that we were visitors not residents.
We filled in a complaint sheet and they answered us the same one. We can not return the unused and unwanted sim-card the trickily sold to us. Take care on this shop!

“Everything a photographer can ask for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

The store has everything that you can ask for when it comes to photography. Not only do they sell the stuff - you can also try (almost) everything. Very valuable to see how your old camera body is working with a new lens or vice versa.

Very friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommended!

“So many cameras”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

This is a very interesting store but you have to spend some time to enjoy its beauty. At first, it seems to be just a normal electronics store such as Best Buy but the fantastic thing about this store is that it's packed with things. If you check each and every shelf you will find amazing stuff, never before seen gadgets and so many curious things.
The selection is great and the guys working there are very nice but they don't speak English.

“Insane - but has everything you would ever need”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

It is sooo overwhelming when you go inside. There are soo many floors, soo many people, and soo much cool stuff!!

Any iphone case invented is there. Any iPad cover invented is there. Any camera strap ever made, any computer mouse, and anything electronic - they have it. It's crazy and fun to just see the mass amount of electronics.

“Great, but caveat emptor !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

A wonderful place for photographers. More equipment than can be appreciated on a single visit; the tripod floor looks like a forest. Japan is the best place to see and handle, but not necessarily buy the latest equipment. Bic and Yodobashi offer tax free sales (5% off) for tourists (on presentation of a passport), but the purchase must be for an item above ¥10,000. Smaller items totalling this amount don't count. When we visited in January 2013 there was an additional discount of 5% for purchases using Visa credit cards. Caveat emptor ! Even with 10% off when compared (as an example) to the distributor list price in Hong Kong for Canon products, it is cheaper to buy the same item in Hong Kong, and discounts on the list price are possible at big chains in Hong Kong (offering proper warranties and genuinely new equipment) like Fortress and Broadway. Even so, for accessories and specialist items Tokyo is hard to beat for choice.
