Stayed in Shinjuku at a hotel nearby Park Hyatt and decided to have dinner with the wife there. The hotel is easy to miss since it is in a office type building with many other businesses. My first impression was this is a very elegant hotel. When we went to the restaurant that is adjacent to the New York Bar the hostess stated that there were no booths or tables open, only a few seats by the kitchen. Reluctantly we agreed, since we were already dressed up we did not want to go searching for another restaurant in a city we new hardly anything about.
So they sat us at some long table facing the kitchen.
Man, I gotta tell you it was Soooooo hot, almost unbarable! You feel the flames on your face, and my
eyes were watering the whole time. When I looked around I found there were PLENTY booths and tables open. When I asked our server, he stated they were all "reserved". Hmmm, funny, from the hour were were there nobody sat at these "reserved" tables. Then after dinner we decided to go to the adjoining New York bar. They sat us at some type of long bar and not the tables that were open. When I took it upon myself to occupy one, I was immediately wisked back to my original seat with my back to the piano jazz band (which we were charged $25 apiece for an "entertainment" tax. The lady sung one song then took off! So I paid $50 for one friggen song?! That was weak. We downed our overpriced drinks and took off majorly dissapointed. If you are going to this hotel/bar because you loved "lost in translation", you should get "lost" in another hotel trust me.
