“A standard 5 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Spent 3 nights at their Luxe Plaza. Resonable price, spacious room, good service and great location in Shinjuku. A very commercial, smoothly operated and standard 5 star international hotel. This hotel does not have anything to surpise or disappoint you. The breakfast buffet served at their premier lounge (just beside the check in counter) was delicate but choices are very limited.

Location is convenient to the Shinjuku station (Narita Express). However, I don't see myself returning to the hotel any time soon. The rooms were cold. The bedding was very uncomfortable: hard mattresses, covered with sheets that felt like cardboard and terrible pillows. The breakfasts buffet was barely ok - nothing like the beautiful and rich offering at the Imperial Hotel. The fitness center is small but functional.

Good location and great service. However, breakfast was not that great. Nearby to Lawsons and just 15 mins walk to Takashimaya and Shinjuku station (underground passage). Rooms are big and spacious. Great view through window.

I stayed at Keio Plaza in January 2014. The location was ok-good. But the service was great. We spilled coffee onto your bed middle of the night so had to call housekeeping to change our duvet cover. They came very quick and professionally change our duvet cover and bed sheet very politely.

The service concierge was very helpful as well. They help us book many restaurants even before we arrived the hotel via email.

Thank you so much for your great hospitality!

This is a large hotel in a convenient location about 10min walk along a path from Shinjuku station. There are many restaurants on the premises, although we didn't visit any of them since we were in a huge international City with many awesome restaurants in it. I read the guy's review who noted the long check-in time and aged room.... My wife and I got lucky and checked in quickly, however every other time I was in the lobby, it was packed with a long disneyland-style line of people trying to conduct business at the front desk. We got lucky but not everyone does, apparently. We had specifically booked a renovated room and when we showed up we were initially led to a non-renovated room. The manager was able to correct the problem quickly and upgrade us, but WOW, what a difference. Our renovated room was beautiful, clean, modern, and filled with great amenities. We loved it and enjoyed our stay.

The non-renovated room should have gone through two rounds of upgrades before it got to that point. It had marked walls, a terrible bed, a comical clock/radio, used slippers, no safe, no complimentary water, and the hallway had extremely dated carpet that was stained and depressing. The bathroom was upgraded and looked new. The used slippers and different amenities in the non-renovated room confirms Art9999's review that those rooms must be pretty much ignored.

There is a nice gym with several cardio machines and weights. Our experiences with staff at the hotel were all positive, although I had an interesting conversation with someone at the front desk before we got there. Our flight was delayed and we missed our arranged shuttle from the airport, so I called to notify the hotel we'd be late and ask what I should do regarding transportation. The guy I talked to said we'd be fine checking in late but he didn't know about transportation, they don't deal with that. I was little confused by that reply and ended up laughing it off, but GEEZ! The "not my problem" answer is uncommon in from hotels in my experience. The trains in Japan are very good and we were able to figure it out, no big deal. I'm sure hundreds of people a day travel to Keio Plaza from Haneda/Narita... maybe I can help them out and put together a train route or list of shuttles so that they can be more helpful and less helpless if someone asks how to get to their hotel. Maybe it was a language barrier. Maybe I've just gotten lucky in the past with consistently extra-ordinarily helpful hotel staff? haha

My review and rating is based on our pleasant experience with a new room and swift service, but beware if you don't request/pay for the nicer upgraded room or if you don't feel comfortable with public transportation.

My wife and I had a lovely stay in a fabulous room and had kind service by the front desk, manager, concierge, and bell staff. We would certainly stay again and we recommend the Keio Plaza.

Room Tip: Confirm in writing that you're getting a renovated room. In my opinion, the price point of this...

I stayed at the Keio Plaza for a few nights with a group tour. The hotel was large and had many different restaurants available for breakfast. The food was pretty good. It was convenient to have a money Exchange machine although I'm not sure how good the rate was.
The staff was quite friendly and the room was clean and the location was very convenient. Right across the street there was shopping and restaurants so you could take a nice stroll.

Would recommend.

We had a "nice" stay here, neither good nor bad. However, it was memorable in that it wasn't memorable at all-- just average.

This hotel looks huge, impersonal and corporate... And the lobby is austere and flavorless. If you're looking for the quintessential Japanese experience, look elsewhere (a smaller hotel maybe). The rooms seem in good working order and are more spacious than some other double-bed-size rooms we've stayed in in Tokyo (we stayed in the renovated tower), but decoration isn't much to look at and the bathrooms aren't notable in any way. Two bottles of water are left in the room a day and cleaning seems good and thorough.

Hotel staff is very kind (meets expectations) and location is good: Steps to Shinjuku Station and some fun areas. There's a DVD player in the room which actually turned out to be helpful.

The money exchanging at the hotel is a HUGE rip-off, however, and not at all what I would expect from a "luxury" hotel. Other hotels would allow you to exchange at the desk and would give you a good rate. Here, they make you use an impersonal machine which skims off 7 or 8% all together.
