“First Class Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We choose this hotel for our annual family vacation. We travel with two adult daughters (no boyfriends). In Japan, hotel rooms accommodate two adults. You may be able to get three in a room, but four is impossible. This hotel has a four-bedded room with two bathrooms. It was perfect for us.
It is located across from the government buildings so the staff accommodates international clients. They all speak english and the service is first class. It has many restaurants to choose from and one cafe is open until 11pm, which is good when your flight arrives at 10pm. There is a fairly good convenience store in the hotel with decent selection of drinks and spirits open until midnight, I believe.

The in-room amenities are very good with large bottles of shampoo/conditioner, body wash and face wash. Not those silly little bottles. You also get razors, shower caps and toothbrush w/toothpaste. The supplies are daily. theer is also a hot pot for water, and they supply instant coffee and green tea.

We also used the laundry service. If you call them before 10am, your laundry is picked up and delievered to your room the same day, in the afternoon. This was very helpful as we were caught in the middle of the typhoon and our jeans got soaked.

I would return to this hotel on my next trip and I would recommend it to anyone going to Tokyo
who doesn't speak Japanese. You are able to get along fine. They also helped us with ground transportation reservations back to the airport.

I was able to cash American Express traveler's checks at the front desk for yen. There is also a foreign exchange machine that will disburse japanese yen for your country's currency.
If you need to draw cash from an atm, the post office is only a block away. In Japan, you have to go to a post office for international atm transactions.

This hotel is very famous in Tokyo. ANY cab driver knows where the Keio Plaza in Shinjuku is. SO you don't have to worry. LOve this hoetl.

Room Tip: If you need to travel with children, they have a room with four beds. the beds are double bed size...

Im not one to rant on tripadvisor but my experience with keio plaza hotel was the straw that broke the camels back. On my maiden trip to tokyo. I stayed in the keio hotel.plaza luxe rooms. Plaza luze rooms apparently recently.renovated and the official website promises so much. While clearly stating that ALL plaza luxe rooms gets lounge access. This was not the case. Although i booked the room through agoda, it was clearly communicated via agoda that lounge access was guaranteed. Either there is poor communication between 3rd party bookings or something seriously wrong with keio plaza. On top of that, a twin room was issued instead of a double room. While that was rectified after 2 trips up and down 33 floors. I feel sorry for the the dude who was magnimously polite and professional throughout this ordeal. As mentioned, while rectified. It was with great reluctance for some bizarre reasons due to the fact that the double rooms are cheaper than twin rooms on keios official website. Arent i saving the hotel monet???Still, the aging hotel has class and its near everything. I will however give it a miss in the future due to this unpleasant experience. For the same price. There are other luxury hotels which can do better. Japan is extensively connected by trains which might take a little to get used to but you will soon find out that no matter how secluded your hotel be. Like the hilton etc... you are never too far from everything. Approach this hotel with no expectations. And do not trust the official website. There is some serious miscommunication going on.

There are so many good places to stay in Tokyo. In the Shinjuku area, this hotel is ideal especially if you can get a reasonable rate with the breakfast coupon included. The staff at this hotel are well trained and proficient in English and courteous and helpful. They have several restaurants and at least 4 different places for breakfasts. The rooms were nice and well maintained with new fixtures, lcd tv, mini refrig, etc. Overall appearance was clean and newly refurbished. Only thing (for me) was that the bed is on the firm side (typical of bedding in Japan). Maybe the deluxe rooms have more cushiony beds. You can find some hotels in Tokyo which are located right next to the subway station. Keio is located a block or so from the Shinjuku station so the walk back and forth with shopping bags may longer than other places. Over the years (from 30+ years ago), I've never had any problems staying here.

I love the location of this hotel as it is adjacent to a covered walkway that leads directly to Shinjuku station. Although it is not inexpensive there are deals to be had and anything between $150 - $200 a night should be considered a fair market rate for this class of hotel.

The hotel is close to the rail and bus station. During my stay, my travelers stay in the hotel because of hiking Fuji trip. There are bbc and CNN but no English movie channel.

Many restaurants and convenient stores are just around the corner.

The hotel is a bit old but well maintained.

We stayed there for 5 nights in a Superior room which was very spacious considering a typical hotel room size in Tokyo. Breakfast was lovely as we could choose from 3 - 4 different restaurants each day. The concierge was also very helpful and gave us good tips on how to traverse Tokyo's complicated metro system. Being a Disney resort good neighbor hotel was very useful as we could utilize the complimentary shuttle bus. Shinjuku station is 5-10 min walk away with many shops and eating establishments nearby.

Room Tip: Request for high floor superior room. You can get good views of Tokyo.

As my first hotel in Japan I was a little disappointed, when you enter the hotel it looks very impressive but the room we had in the south tower perhaps need a little updating. However it was clean and a good size. The beds unfortunately where not very comfortable but now having finished two weeks travellering around Japan I have come to the conclusion that they do not go in for comfortable beds. Very convenient for the railway station.
