“Clean, modern, practical, location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2011

Stayed at the Citadines for a couple of nights for business just outside of Tokyo. Location new Shinjuku makes for easy access from Narita Express line as well as trains-metro system (suggest getting off at Shinjuku-gyoemmae for shorter walk). Staff was very friendly and helpful, notably Residence Manager Yuka Yamane. Rooms are a good size by Tokyo standards and very complete with kitchenette to make your own coffee/tea and meals. Grocery stores all around the hotel. Would highly recommend compared to other hotels that don't nearly give you the same value for money.

Any reasonably priced hotel room in Tokyo is going to be small, right?

Not at Citadines Shinjuku where you have a ridiculous amount of room in a decent location at a fraction of the cost you would usually expect to pay.

Double rooms are more in the nature of small serviced apartments with full cooking facilities, and plenty of room for luggage and clothes. Great news if you don't want to be tripping over your bags all the time. The rooms are modern and well-appointed.

The location is not absolutely ideal, being a little way from the main commercial centre, and perhaps a little hard to find if you don't have a good map or knowledge of the area, but for the price and standard of the rooms I doubt it can be beaten.

We stayed in Tokyo for 3 nights at the end of a 4 week trip and the Citadines apartments were just what we needed. Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms, excellent service from staff who all spoke fluent English. A word of advice: ask for directions when you book. We arrived in Tokyo with no guide book and no map and it was quite an adventure finding the Citadines.
5-10 minutes from metro station. Closest shop is 7-Eleven with an ATM. Bit of a walk into busier areas of the district for restaurants and shops.

This is my second visit to this apart hotel and it is categorically great. The room I had on this visit looked out on a main avenue called Yasakuni Street with a very agreeable view of the skyline. The configuration of the apartment is ingenious, is always cleaned very well, and the beds are beyond what one could call comfort:they are magnificent, nice and firm with firm pillows. When you wake up in the morning you will not feel any pain. You will feel that you are up and ready to spend a wonderful day in unbelievable Tokyo. The location could not be better in the fantastic Shinjuku district with many interesting restaurants, shops and coffee cafes just near the hotel. Go to Tokyo for an extended experience and stay in this hotel and you will feel at home in a very different city. If you are interested, learn some basic Japanese and your experience will be even greater. My thanks to the staff of the hotel which made my visit excellent once again. Domo arigato!

Very good hotel. Would stay there again. But you need to walk a bit to go shopping, however the park is very close and metro is 5min away...........................................................

Extremely great value and location for Tokyo. The hotel is just as they look in photos on the website. Very new and clean. We had 3 people and there was barely anywhere to put luggage, hang clothes to air, or to walk around. It would have been better for just 2 people.

There is a good place on the same main road for cheap warm breakfast. It is about 3 minutes walk down the main road, on the same side as the hotel, towards Shinjiku. (There should be a small food mart next to it) The best thing about it was that it had free wifi!!!

The location was good. A 10minutes walk to shinjiku shops and train staion (shinjiku gyoeme, red line) . We caught the train to this station when we first arrived in tokyo and had to drag our heavy bags 10minutes down a bumpy lane (dont get me wrong, it was quiet and pleasant without our heavy luggage) in the rain to the hotel. We were smarter when we checkout of the hotel. We caught the bus right outside the hotel on the main road and that took us straight to Shinjiku station where we caught the JR to Kyoto. Didnt needed to drag our heavy luggage this tim!

This was our second visit to Citadines at Shinjuku and found it as great as it was the first time. Rooms are spotless, well appointed and serviced every day. The hotel is located about 7 minutes walk to the train station or 10-15 minutes walk to the shopping district. There are many small restaurants very close by as well as local convenience stores and coffee shops. There is a great bar, Phonic and Hoop on the other side of the road about 10 minutes stroll away which serves meals and has a varied drinks list if you are seeking some more Western style food. Isetan Department store is close by and it has a food hall section which is amazing in its range and value and meals can be bought back to the hotel for reheating if you wish. At the hotel the doors are able to be arranged at a right angle to each other to allow for a private reception space between two rooms. Works really well if you are travelling with children. I would write ahead to the hotel and ask for a copy of the address and directions in Japanese if you plan to taxi there as this makes it much easier and there is a taxi stand adjacent to the Airport Limousine stop. We left some luggage at the hotel and were contacted by the hotel who arranged to have it delivered for us. Very helpful staff, friendly and spoke good English as well. Did Tokyo Disney as well - Fabulous but there are no ATM machines within the park that take non Japanese cards so cash up before you go. You also cannot buy tickets on the same day you wish to visit at the Disney shops which is not explained on the Internet.
