“Great modern hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

Stayed three nights in Tokyo and had booked into Citadines for all three. Very happy with this decision.
Room was compact yet spacious - very good use of space with a little lounge area separate from the very comfy bed. The blinds were the best light block ones I have ever encountered. Thought it was still the middle of the night at 8am.
The hotel was a little further removed from the action but good restaurants were only 5 - 10 minutes tops away.
This was good because the weather was extremely cold. Hotel was nice and warm and close to 3 subway lines and shinjuku station so easy to get around Tokyo.

Location wise the hotel is great. Located at Shinjuku and it is near metro station. Convenience store such as lawson and 7eleven is near too. From Narita, take a airport limousine bus to shinjuku. Then take a cab to the hotel. Remember to print out the map in japanese because most cab driver only understand japanese. We reach the hotel early, check in start at 2pm. They allows us to keep our luggage there.

The room is modern & quite small plus we add extra single bed. Clean room attached with kitchenette. Room is serviced regularly. LCD tv with wide variety of english channel. Free internet available, i recommend to bring own ethernet plug.

I have a pleasant stay at Citadines Shinjuku, I really look foward for other Citadines location

Knowing absolutely nothing about Tokyo before our trip, we took a chance on Citadines. With this little gem in the heart of Shinjuku did not disappoint. It was convenient, clean, with a very helpful staff (who spoke great English, which was awesome for first time westerners visiting Japan). We stayed in the studio double, and it was perfect for two people who didn't plan to spend a load of time in the "apartment" and didn't want to spend a lot of $$. The room was replete with HDTV, satellite receiver, full kitchenette, and a gym (which we didn't take advantage of). If you're looking for a modern, low cost and generally awesome place to stay while in Tokyo, we highly recommend you consider Citadines. They also just opened a location in Kyoto if that's your destination.

i stayed at Citadines last November 27-30, 2009. It was great, the place was spanking new, clean and spacious. Bit of a walk (leisurely 10 minute walk) to the shinjuku goyen mae station and to Isetann and Takashimaya Times Square but none the less interesting, the crisp autumn air is refreshing especailly for a person who hails from a tropical country. Whatever exit you take from the gyoen mae station , remember when you come out of the subway station just turn either left or right on the very corner of the block where the subway exit is stationed, your back is the gyoen mae garden , you DO NOT NEED TO CROSS any big road/street to get to Citadines, walk about three small blocks, with small alleyways. ( 1 car width alley ) until you reach a big busy street/avenue, and that is where Citadines is located., once you hit the big street, take a right and walk straight ahead for about 2 minutes you will see the hotel. Staff speaks English and very accomodating, they have preprinted maps that show what is located where. A tip when you run out of yen and want to convert your dollars better do it at a local bank, they give better rates unless you have a Citibank Account and have with you your Citibank value client card then Citibank would give you a better rate. And by the way, to those who have big luggages, do take the other gyoen mae exit because it has a lift unlike the one recommended by the Citadines site, yes , logistically it is nearer but my oh my ......two flights of stairs going up to the street level is quite a challenge, gravity sure make itself felt. Enjoy your stay at Citadines, i loved it, it is quiet but has many small eateries in the neighborhood, at first i was apprenhensive because it is near the kabuchiko district because we are 2 single ladies travelling but it was not that near the hotel, so we feel safe even if we get back late at night. If I get a chance to visit Tokyo, i would stay here again.

Excellent hotel (or "aparthotel") for anyone looking for decent quality, reasonably priced accomodation. The room itself was clean, new and comfortable. Including a mini kitchen allows for in room breakfast and savings and the little annex just adds to the space.

We were most impressed by the staff - on arrival after asking if they knew how we might be able to book tickets to the sumo wrestling, the woman at reception then researched it on the internet, walked my boyfriend to the shop, bought the tickets in Japanese, asked questions for us, printed out step by step details in English about transport and where in the stadium our seats were. I.e. she went far above and beyond.

In relation to the construction, it was in our room barely audible - the clock ticking was louder.

All in all, an excellent hotel in good location for a great price.

The staff are all very well versed in english, nothing is ever too much trouble. I was sick and needed med for safe breastfeeding and the staff were very thorough in writing the necessary instructions for the pharmacist and even called to ask how i felt. the location is good, takes about 5-8 mins walk to the subway, which is uncomplicated once you get a hang of it.take a stroll at the garden
(pay a minimal fee meant for conserving it) when you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle..its serene and beautiful. Japanese hospitality at its best in this self serviced apartment!

This apartment hotel has rooms with great features often hard to find for a reasonable price in Tokyo. The room spaces are not bad. Some rooms cater for triples with a fold out lounge. Rooms also come with a small kitchen. There are several small food stores and bottle shops close to the hotel if you wish to prepare your own dinner. Twin rooms come with a shower over bath and full auto loo an experience not to be missed.

Self service breakfast is available.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Some spoke fair English.

Note a building next door to our room was being demolished at the time of our stay you would not have known however if you had not looked out of the window.

The Hotel is also located near the restaurant /bar area of Shinjuku. It is about a 15/20 minute walk from Shinjuku Station and a 10 minute walk from the main Shinjuku shopping area.

You can catch the train from Narita directly to Shinjuku station. The JR service is comfortable and takes 76 minutes from terminal 2 . It costs around 32000 Yen. You can take a combination of local rail and the subway for about 1000 yen. If you do not wish to walk to the Hotel a taxi will cost about 800 yen from the station.

Shinjuku is a great area to base a stay in Tokyo.
