“Great Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights with my son and my sister in law and the staff were extremely helpful, going to great lengths with getting a cab for us and leaving their front desk posts. Rooms are just right. but you'll be spending time in the shoH&M, Uniqlo, F21 are just 5-10 mins away on foot.

Stayed here with my wife for 4 nights in August.

Definitely worthy of the awards it receives from TripAdvisor as best value hotel.

It is a little far away from Shinjuku station which is a JR line but a private line in Shinjuku-gyommae station is only a 3 minute walk.

The service wasn't impeccable but very good nonetheless.

The rooms were of a good size and modern as well with wifi included.
Rooms were made every day and were very clean.

While you're in Shinjuku, find some time to visit Robot Restaurant which is so much fun.

Also try New York Bar & Grill within Park Hyatt Tokyo Shinjuku. This is where the movie Lost in Translation was filmed. Please dress up when planning to go to the Park Hyatt.

I recently stayed at the Citadines Shinjuku with some friends, and we had a great time. There were three of us, and we had a studio with a sofabed. When the sofabed was set up, the room felt a lot smaller, but we had adequate space. The room itself was well-appointed - comfortable bed and sofabed, writing desk, mini kitchen, kettle, and fridge. Also, the free wifi signal was strong and consistent. The bathroom was also an adequate size, and as a nice bonus, there was a nice big tub to soak in after walking the streets of Tokyo all day.

The staff made our stay very pleasant indeed. The three of us arrived at different times, and everything was ready for each of us on our respective arrivals. The staff made great recommendations for restaurants, and when we felt like having foot massages after a long day of sightseeing, they took care of everything.

We ended up spending about US$170 per night, including an added fee for the sofabed and all taxes. The location about a 10-15 minute walk from Shinjuku station and a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Gyoemmae made getting around very convenient. The next time, I'm in Tokyo, I'll definitely look to the Citadines first.

a very pleasant stay indeed. it exceeded our expectations of what a citadines hotel would be like. friendly and helpful staff + a brilliant location - just on the edge of shinjuku makes this a great base. the room also had a proper double bed, which can be rare in japan. surrounded by interesting shops, lots of bars and close to metro. can't fault it, really.

Room Tip: there is a new building going up at the back of the hotel at the moment (september 2013), so if you...

We stayed here for 3 nights stay in Tokyo while travelling in japan. It was a perfect choice - very good value for money, nice modern room and a good location. Perfect choice for anyone needing a good place to stay to explore Tokyo

I and my mother stayed here for 2 nights in September 2013. This place is

Good for;
- Big, new, and clean room
- Kitchenette (fully equipped, good to warm food or cook light meals as you've got 7/11 next door)
- Wash basin and bathroom are separate - 2 persons can do things at the same time.

Not so good for;
- Travelling with luggages (need to take taxi to and from Shinjuku Station, it costs about 900-1,000 yen per trip)
- Long walk from Metro station exit 2 to the hotel, considering that you're already tired + no elevators or lifts at this station.
- Water pressure is weak.
- Pillow is too flat.
- Breakfast is not value and does not have variety of food.

The hotel pales in comparison to its Kyoto counterpart. Located in a quiet neighborhood, it's a 10-min walk from the subway station (Shinjuku-gyoemmae). The lobby is rather sparsely furnished. The reception staff has a strong cigarette smell coming from him and the service feels rather distant and cold (perhaps because it's Tokyo or we don't speak Japanese?). The room is clean and spacious. The TV rack can be slided left or right depending on where you need it, which is really cool. Water pressure is extremely weak, and it starts sputtering if someone else is also using water from the sink faucet outside the bathroom (sink is located outside the bathroom). As per Citadines tradition it seems, toiletries such as combs, shower caps and razors are retrievable at the lobby counter but not placed by default in the rooms, and you only get a complimentary bottle of water per person per stay (not everyday). Aircon was quiet. Pillows are too flat and the mattresses do not provide decent back support which means waking up with a painful back is not unusual. There are renovations near the hotel until a few months later, so might be good to consider some place else if you're concerned about noise. We didn't hear anything much during our stay though. Lastly, there are huge bottles of shower foam, shampoo and body lotion for use, so you don't need to bring yours actually if you're not picky on your toiletries.
