“Definitely an experience for a bargain!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

A must when visiting Tokyo, it's fun, different and cheap!

Sushi were only 105 YEN ($1.05) and sides e.g miso soup, chicken karaage, calamari etc were roughly only 215 YEN ($2.15) and drinks like beer were roughly 400-500 YEN ($4-5). It might not be the best sashimi or sushi but for this price it was still tasty. We were full on our 12th plate already and costed us roughly 1200 YEN ($12). Don't forget dessert for 230 YEN !

Line looks long from the outside but the line goes fast so don't worry. They also have other branches than Shibuya.

It's not hard to find, walk towards Shibuya 109 store and take the left road instead of the right and keep walking till you see MOS BURGER on your right and it should be on the street (small alley) right after that.

“Sushi train plus more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

The place is a must.

I was overly excited when I was getting my meal here as you can see from the other reviews you pick your food via an ipad and its sen to you from a conveyer belt.
Food is great and the experience is better.

“Novelty that satisfies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

What an amazing concept this restaurant is - highly recommended for quality made to order sushi. The touch screen ordering system is available in English as well as Japanese, is quick, efficient, and gives the option of not having wasabi on your suhsi. Great price around 100y for most sushi orders!
Miso soup even came shooting out on the little tray without any being spilt - simply amazing!

“SuperSushi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

There’s a sushi bar in Shibuya that’s hard to find. That’s because everything in Tokyo is hard to find – even if you live there. If you stand around for long enough looking gormless with a map, somebody will stop to help. When they can’t find it either they refuse to give up, but ask someone else and they ask someone else, until you’ve got a whole Benny Hill thing going on.

When you enter Uobei, the auto sushi bar, it feels more like a Clinique advert than a restaurant, very white and lab-like. You are given a piece of laminated card which turns out to have a microchip in it that works out the bill. When your allocated space at the counter becomes free, you sit on a stool and in front of you is a touch screen with pictures of various sushi, sodas, beer, deserts. You can order three things at a time, and when you ‘ve made your selection you can pour soy sauce into little dishes, choose chopsticks, clean your hands.

Within a few moments, a dish of sushi whizzes along a chute and stops right in front of you and you sit and stare at it because you’ve forgotten what you ordered. After a few seconds of staring, it whizzes back again in the opposite direction because it’s no longer fresh enough.

The next time a dish of food stops in front of you, you grab it quick and then you’re away……Slurping sushi, slavering ginger, sloshing soy, smearing wasabi paste, sprinkling wasabi powder. Except that it turns out it’s not wasabi powder, it’s green tea that you were supposed to put into that cup and fill it with hot water from that tap with the clear instructions on it, you bruddy irriot.

“Entertaining more than outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

A quirky little innovation on the kaiten concept, Uobei for me was a must-visit for any Tokyo tourist who wants to try cheap sushi with reasonable quality.

The quirk to this "kaiten" sushi bar is that you order your sushi via a touch screen in front of you, multiple languages available of course! The quirkiness continues when a little sushi carrying vehicle arrives directly in front of you, beeping at you to take it's cargo! VERY IMPORTANT - don't forget to press the little yellow button above once you have unloaded the cargo from the train to send it back to base!

This restaurant was a lot of fun and the sushi, given the price, was very reasonable quality and service.
