“Comfortable and convenient stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

Love the bed at Sunroute Plaza Hotel. Slept well despite few hours and did not experience backaches.
Location is a stone away from subway (Shinjuku), 24-hour convenience stores (Family mart and Lawson), Macdonald. Best of all, walking distance (about 10 mins) from Takashimaya!
The airport limousine also alights passengers in front of hotel, a plus if you have bulky luggage.

Stayed for 3 nights on my first ever trip to Tokyo. The location was hard to beat - a five minute walk from Shinjuku JR station (where you can get the Narita Express to and from) and right next to the metro station. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, department stores etc within a short walk of the hotel. It was also a only a short walk to the bus station from where you can catch the bus to Mt Fuji so a good choice for anyone intending to do the climb.

Staff on the front desk were very helpful and friendly and spoke good English. I shared a twin room with a friend. It was compact but bigger than I was expecting. The beds were like small doubles rather than singles. There was a fridge, kettle, TV (limited English channels) and the bathroom had a tub with a shower over it. Full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided as well as razors, toothbrushes, etc. There was a drinks machine and a free ice machine near the lifts. Really could not complain about the room at all - it was very quiet, clean and confortable.

I had breakfast one of the days at the hotel - nothing to write home about and was glad I didn't opt for it everyday. There are Starbucks and other coffee shops nearby where you can get a reasonable breakfast. However, the restaurant in the lobby did have some good deals for drinks eg one glass of beer was 800 yen but for 960 yen you could have unlimited beer (or whiskey and soda) for an hour. A glass of wine was an acceptable 500 yen (about 4 pounds) - I had heard some horror stories about prices in Tokyo so was pleasantly surprised that we could have a drink at the hotel without breaking the bank.

Free wifi was available in the lobby and the guest lounge which also had a TV and computers you could use (although everything turned Japanese when you tried to type anything!).

Highly recommend this hotel for location, reasonable price and facilities.

I stay at Hotel Sunroute Plaza because it is close to Shinjuku Station and is an excellent hotel to stay in. My stays are of 8 to 9 days each time and I never tire of calling it my 'home away from home'. The rooms are clean and comfortable (smallish but not a disadvantage), the service prompt and quick, with friendly staff. I will be staying there again for my next trip.

Room Tip: If you are a non-smoker, ensure that you ask for a room on one of the 'non-smoking' floors.

Excellent service, comfortable guest rooms. Some have a beautiful view of the city. Good facilities and tasty food! Nice, walkable location - 5mins to Shinjuku Station. I like the local feel, very sweet! If you go, I recommend just walking around the neighborhood and checking out the trendy Italian coffee shop next door - also ask the helpful and friendly staff at concierge for details!

Easy to get here... dropped off at the front door from the airport limo bus. We only stayed one night, but service was excellent, sleeping was comfortable and breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of Japanese and western food.

Shinjuku is a great Tokyo starting point and if your planning to climb Mt Fuji it's close to the KEIO Bus terminal which connects to the 5th Station. This was the main reason I chose this hotel plus it was 5-10mins walk to JR line subway, the Metro is right next to the hotel but it wasn't as useful to me plus I heard the Metro was more expensive. Staff are friendly and speak and understand English quite welI. I stayed 6 nights(approx. 54000 yen) and found the room clean and adequate although the shower/bath tap did have me puzzled for a minute. Another puzzling feature was the elevator, you need your room key card to activate it, more frustrating than anything. There is a movie channel but it cost 1000 yen for a code number, this can only be bought where the vending machines are on each floor. The breakfast option is western and Japanese style... and the coffee has a lot to be desired!! There is a bus that connects to Narita Airport(approx. 3000 yen) from the hotel, times are displayed on a sign outside. If you like Japanese style gardens I recommend the "Shinjuku Gyeon National Garden" which is 10-15 min walk away. Overall I had a pleasant stay and would stay again. Arigatou...

Its location is great, very close to South exit of JR station. The room is very clean & its size is acceptable relative to other hotels in Shinjuku. Its breakfast is good as well in terms of food variety & quality. It offers free wifi in lobby & lounge on 1/F, but it would be much appreciated if the free wifi is also offered at guest rooms.
