“Dining in Daikanyama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Not lay is this area by far the funkiest coolest areas in Tokyo but this was a real find and I can't wait to go back.

Dark, sexy, modern and amazing. Service was great, food was delicious, choice brilliant, cocktails perfect and the reason I have since told at least 12 people to dine there.

A real hidden gem

“My new favourite restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant has become my new favourite place to hang out in Tokyo. Set in the trendy Tsutaya complex in Daikanyama Tokyo, this restaurant aims to please. Sure the waits can be long due to its popularity but they will take your name and phone number and when a table becomes open they will call you. In the meantime you can browse the books and magazines at the large Tsutaya store next door. I can't wait for the spring when it will be warmer to enjoy the Ivy Place patio. They have outdoor heaters and the patio is in use now but if it is windy you may find it a bit too cold. The menu is full of tasty foods and their popular home brews which are all very affordable considering the trendy location and decor. Highly recommended.

“It's places like this which place Tokyo above other Japanese cities!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

This is the newest addition to the TY Harbor Brewery group in Tokyo, which includes Beacon and Cicada. This place is VERY popular - just opened - so book early! Nice atmosphere - it's a large house-feeling building in Daikanyama, one of Tokyo's nicest neighborhoods. If you're in a taxi, ask them to take you to Tsutaya Books - it's behind the bookstore. Nice crowd, good menu, "western" portions, fun drinks. The staff are still learning, and their English is halting, but it wasn't a problem. There simply aren't places like this in Japan, outside of Tokyo!

“Nice but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

Very good location, trendy area...but the menu is a bit boring and not in the same class as other restaurants of the same group (beacon, TY, waterline). I guess the menu lack character and definition -- not quite sure what it wants to be: American, middle eastern, mediterranean...so it falls flat on all counts. Expect very long waits for lunch and dinner.
