“good quality food, odd serving order”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Stayed at the Hotel Century Southern Tower so got a special deal that you get if you're staying at the hotel.
We changed the garlic rice for normal rice.
The food was soup to start (minestrone - was nice) and the beef was good.
Only thing is my hubby asked for his well done, and it was more medium (however this could have been a language thing ;) )
Was very interesting watching the chef at work - the seats are in a semi circle around the teppanyaki grill.
We were in the middle - our chef was cooking - and there was one chef either side of him cooking very interesting fish courses for other diners - so it was good to watch.
Nice staff as well!
Would recommend.

recommend the japanese dressing on the salad - very tasty!

“Good sushi bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Like others, we were staying at the Hotel above, and found it convenient to go here as it was freezing outside. Excellent service, and very fresh sushi - we enjoyed contrasting the fatty, semi-fatty and lean tuna. Good entertainment watching the expert chefs over the counter. Maybe not worth a detour but if you're staying at the Century Southern Tower its a good option.

“Excellent meat, good presentation. Cold staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The food was quite good - the meat was excellent (beef). Juicy, packed with flavour. The presentation was good, but that is to be expected with traditional Japanese dining.

On the negative side, the staff came across as pretty cold. It's basics of customer service - make the customer feel warm and welcome. No, it's not a Japanese culture problem; I got better, warmer service buying cheap takeaway sushi in a shopping centre. I detected a trace of snobbery - if you stroll in well dressed in formal clothing (which I wasn't) looking wealthy and privileged, perhaps then you get the A-class service.

“Good quality teppanyaki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2012 via mobile

We went to this restaurant in the century southern hotel as there were typhoon winds outside and thought it would be convenient.

Decided on the teppanyaki beef meal (which is discounted if you are a hotel guest), but also had a side of prawns. The other options were a sushi meal or a general traditional japanese meal, each served in a different part of the restaurant.

There were a number of courses, with very tasty dipping sauces, miso, garlic rice, salads and a fruit dessert. All of the ingredients were of very high quality and were cooked very well by our chef. There weren't the full-on theatrics you often get with teppanyaki, but our chef was clearly skilled and cooked the food to perfection, with mouth-watering grilled beef and prawns.

The only downside was slightly slow waiting staff when we wanted to pay, but otherwise it was a very good and memorable meal.
